Kevin Durant Reportedly Linked to Raptors as Trade Landing Spot amid Giannis Rumors
Phoenix Suns' forward Kevin Durant could venture north of the border for his next NBA destination.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Raptors could be a potential landing spot for Durant if they pivot from trying to acquire Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
"But Toronto has likewise been painted by numerous NBA figures as a potential trade suitor for Durant … particularly if Antetokounmpo doesn't reach the open market," Stein wrote. "The Raptors, furthermore, would figure to have a more realistic shot at assembling a competitive trade offer for Durant compared to the mammoth offers that the Bucks would inevitably seek for Antetokounmpo's services. The Greek Freak also happens to be six years younger than Durant, is still playing at an MVP level and, most crucially, has two more guaranteed years left on his contract."

Durant averaged 26.6 points, six rebounds and 4.2 assists in 62 games for the Suns in 2024-25. He is a 15-time All-Star, four-time scoring champ and a two-time NBA Champion.
The 36-year-old is under contract through 2025-26 and could hit free agency following the season. While he could remain with Phoenix for one more season, his time in the NBA could be ending in a few seasons and the Suns are coming off of a disappointing 36-46 season in 2024-25.
Moving Durant and others could help the Suns enter a rebuild while allowing Durant to play for a team looking to compete for a title. Toronto hasn't necessarily been that team after missing the postseason in three consecutive years but Durant could be the missing piece that elevates a core led by Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley.
