British soccer legend David Beckham is reportedly set to be knighted as part of King Charles III's upcoming birthday honors.

According to BBC's Dan Roan, Beckham is included on a list of people tabbed for knighthood, which is expected to be released publicly next week.

Beckham, 50, is one of the most popular and successful English soccer players of all time, having played in 115 career matches for the English national team from 1996 to 2009.

Aside from his national team career, which saw him appear in three FIFA World Cups and serve as captain, Beckham played 11 seasons at Manchester United.

He also had spells with Preston North End, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain before retiring in 2013.

According to Roan, Beckham has been an officer of the Order of the British Empire since 2003 and an ambassador of Unicef since 2005.

Notably, Beckham played a pivotal role in helping Great Britain secure the right to host the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Beckham was reportedly first nominated for knighthood back in 2011, but it took 14 years before he finally secured one of England's highest honors.

Now, Beckham splits his time between living in the United States and the UK, as he is part-owner of the MLS club Inter Miami.

Inter Miami made their MLS debut in 2020, and they are currently third in the Eastern Conference standings for the 2025 season, thanks in large part to the play of Lionel Messi, who Beckham helped bring to MLS in 2023.
