Carlito Reveals WWE Will Not Renew Contract Following R-Truth's Exit
WWE’s Carlito revealed he will not renew his contract, which is set to expire in two weeks—dropping the news alongside some spilled tea about his recent run with the company.
"My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed," Carlito wrote on social media. "On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently “stealing money” from the company. I’ve had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money"
"All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe. Los quiero mucho! PS…I’ll reappear again in another 13yrs Dios me los bendiga!"
The news comes on the heels of reports that R-Truth has been released from WWE, ending his 17-year run with the company as of Sunday.
Carlito, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colón, was introduced to WWE development in 2003 and made an instant splash on the main roster in 2004, defeating John Cena in his debut match to win the United States Championship.
The 46-year-old remained with the company until 2010, when he was released for the first time. He returned to WWE briefly at the 2021 Men's Royal Rumble and officially re-signed in 2023, making a surprise return at Backlash in Puerto Rico.
Carlito was most recently linked to the Judgment Day faction after Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest were ousted, joining a new iteration alongside Finn Bálor, Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, JD McDonagh and Raquel Rodriguez.
Throughout his career, Carlito has captured several titles, including the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship. He’s also a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion with his younger brother, Primo.
