New York Knicks v Cleveland Cavaliers - Game Three

Pelicans 101, Bucks 89

While his older brother is celebrating a championship, Seth Curry continues to try and make his NBA dream come true. In his Summer League opener, the Duke alum scored a game-high 30 points as the New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 101-89 on Friday night.

Curry was 9-of-17 from the field, but did a lot of damage from the free throw line, going 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. His aggressive play helped open up the Bucks defense and allowed the Pelicans offense to click.

The NBA shows a glimpse of Curry's big day:

With Curry working from the outside in, Victor Rudd planted himself down low and went to work, scoring 17 points on 7/10 shooting.

New Orleans used a big first quarter, jumping out to a 29-13 lead, to create a large enough cushion that would seem them never relinquish the lead.

The Bucks had plenty of scoring, too with five players recording double-digit efforts on the evening. Sean Kilpatrick led his Milwaukee side with 24 points despite going just 6-of-14 from the field and 2-of-8 from three-point range.

Kevin Jones, like Rudd, also had a nice game down low going 7-of-11 for 15 points. Milwaukee's first-round draft pick Rashad Vaughn recorded 14 points, five rebounds and two assists in his first action with the Bucks

Raptors 90, Kings 68

The Toronto Raptors used five different double-digit scorers to blowout the Sacramento Kings 90-68 in their Summer League opener.

Rookie Delon Wright showed in his first game as a member of the Raptors that he is capable of developing into a promising point guard with nine points and nine assists. He was able to help command the Raptors offense that opened up a 13-point halftime lead and never looked back.

Norman Powell led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Forward Bruno Caboclo shot 50-percent from the field for 15 points, leading all players with a +25 differential during his time on the floor.

Willie Cauley-Stein made his Kings debut and shook off a less than convincing start to go 4-of-9 from the field for 11 points. He also showed off his athleticism with this block on transition at the buzzer:

James Anderson led the Kings with 15 points in their loss.

Things in Sacramento are less than rosy to say the least. With a feud brewing between DeMarcus Cousins and management against head coach George Karl, watching their summer squad put up just 68 points probably did not help to improve feelings.

Nuggets 86, Hawks 71

The Denver Nuggets may have only shot 2-of-17 from three-point range as a team Friday, but it didn't matter as they pulled out an 86-71 victory over the Atlanta Hawks to kick of their Vegas summer league.

If for nothing else, the game was notable for being the first in which Denver featured Gary Harris and Emmanuel Mudiay in the backcourt. The Nuggets look to be on the verge of a necessary full rebuild, and those two are likely to have a big say on where the franchise goes.

Harris finished with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Mudiay chipped in 11 points, five boards and four dimes.

Justin Faudree of Roundball Mining Co. was pleased with what he saw from the pair of former first-round draft picks:

Brandon Ashley scored 15 points in a losing effort for Atlanta. The former Arizona Wildcats star went undrafted for a reason this summer, but you wonder if the 20-year-old might play his way onto the Hawks' roster, or at the very least a place a look at the D-League.

Ashley was an accomplished player at Arizona, and more nights like Friday may carve out a role for him at the next level.

Rockets 111, D-League Select 104

Speaking of the D-League, the D-League Select team nearly toppled the Houston Rockets before falling 111-104.

The game provided your annual Hasheem Thabeet sighting. The former second overall draft pick scored eight points, adding six rebounds and a blocked shot to his night. Judging by his performance, it's doubtful Thabeet will make an NBA comeback any time soon.

Scotty Hopson, meanwhile, dropped 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting. He also missed just two of his 12 free-throw attempts.

Alan Williams led the way for the Rockets with 27 points and 10 boards to finish with the double-double. Not far behind was Glen Rice, who had 20 points and six rebounds of his own. As Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle noted, most of Houston's heavy hitters were held out for health reasons:

Once the Rockets get to full strength, they should be a fun team to watch this summer. Between their uptempo style and collection of young talent, NBA fans should make sure to catch at least a few of their games in the coming days.

Warriors 83, Cavaliers 75

Even in summer league, the Cleveland Cavaliers still can't get the better of the Golden State Warriors. The reigning NBA champions picked up an 83-75 win in Friday's marquee Vegas matchup.

James Michael McAdoo simply looked a step better than everyone on the court as he scored 20 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out three assists. Draymond Green is obviously an exception to the rule and played a lot more than McAdoo during his rookie year, but you wonder if the sophomore forward might see a larger role on the Warriors next year.

Kevon Looney played a little under 15 minutes on the night, chipping in five points on 2-of-6 shooting.

For the Cavs, it was a night to forget for Joe Harris and Rakeem Christmas, who combined to go 3-of-19 from the field, each scoring six points apiece.

As much as the Cavaliers have done this summer to help their squad, their summer league team is one of the least interesting in the league. There aren't any players who will realistically occupy an even minor role on Cleveland as it looks to avenge last year's NBA Finals loss.

Maybe LeBron James can show up one game to liven things up.
