Kerr Says Warriors' 'Formula' amid Steph Curry's Injury 'Looks Good' Despite Loss
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr still feels the team's plan of attack without star Stephen Curry following Saturday's 102-97 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves can win the series.
"I felt good about the way the game went tonight; we just couldn't close it out," Kerr told reporters. "Give them credit. They made all the plays in the fourth, and Randle and Edwards really got going, and we just couldn't quite overcome them once we got down.
"The formula looks good. We'll have some adjustments to make. But I like the matchup. I like what we're doing."
There are certainly some encouraging signs for Kerr and his staff to take away from the defeat.
Jimmy Butler had a team-high 33 points, fully living up to the "Playoff Jimmy" moniker he has historically earned at this stage of the season. Jonathan Kuminga had 30 points and six rebounds off the bench. Golden State as a team shot 10-of-23 from beyond the arc.
The glass half empty outlook for the Warriors is that Game 3 might've been the strongest blow they can deliver sans Curry, and it still wasn't enough to come out on top. Minnesota also reclaimed home-court advantage in the series.
If Curry is able to return during the Western Conference semifinals, it reportedly won't happen before Game 6. Should the two-time MVP suit up, there are no guarantees that he's back to 100 percent or will perform to his usual standards.
From Kerr's perspective, he has to accentuate the positive. There's nothing to gain from openly lamented the difficult road ahead for his team.
But Game 3 did little to quell the feeling Curry's injury dealt the Warriors a fatal blow toward their hopes of advancing.
