Steph Curry Reportedly Could Return to Warriors from Injury by G6 'At The Earliest'
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will be sidelined for at least the next three games of the Western Conference semifinals thanks to his hamstring strain, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Charania reported Friday on The Pat McAfee Show that Curry "could be back for Game 6 at the earliest."
Charania also reported Saturday on NBA Countdown that "internally there is uncertainty" surrounding Curry and that a Game 6 is the earliest the star guard could return.
This pretty much aligns with the timeline originally cited by the team. The Warriors said Wednesday the two-time MVP will be reevaluated in a week, a period that overlapped with the first four games of the series at a minimum.
The situation is complicated by the fact Curry hasn't suffered a hamstring strain before, so there's no past guide for how he'll recover physically.
"This is new, and from all that I'm learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process," he told reporters Thursday. "You can't accelerate it more than what it's telling you. So it'll be one of those, after a week, really reevaluating every day to understand when it's safe just to even think about playing, let alone how much can you push it."
Game 2 was a foreboding sign for Golden State. The Warriors mustered only 15 points and went behind by double digits in the first quarter. The Timberwolves pretty much cruised from there.
It's too early to write off Golden State completely, but Curry's injury might've effectively served as a knockout blow given his value to the squad.
Minnesota could plausibly wrap this series up before the 11-time All-Star is cleared to play again.
