Jimmy Butler Says 'I Don't Like Dillon Brooks' After Viral Video, 'Not Having Fun'

Mike ChiariApr 29, 2025

Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler made his dislike for Houston Rockets agitator Dillon Brooks known following the Dubs' 109-106 win over the Rockets in Game 4 of their first-round playoff series on Monday.

In a video that went viral on social media, Butler and Brooks talked some trash at the free-throw line with Butler seemingly calling Brooks a "bum" and a "b---h," prompting Brooks to let out a hearty laugh.

When asked by reporters after the game if he and Brooks were merely "having fun" with each other, Butler made it clear that wasn't the case, saying: "No, we're not having fun. Get me on the record with this: I don't like Dillon Brooks. We're never having fun. I'm a fierce competitor. He's a fierce competitor. There ain't nothing fun about that."

Butler, 35, missed Golden State's Game 3 win over Houston due to a pelvic and deep gluteal muscle contusion suffered early in the Warriors' Game 2 loss.

There was uncertainty regarding whether Butler would be able to play and how effective he would be if he did, but he was arguably the biggest difference-maker in the fourth quarter.

Butler scored 14 of his team-leading 27 points during the final frame, pushing the Warriors to within one win of the second round.

Although Butler said he was in "a lot of pain," head coach Steve Kerr praised his effort, calling him "just amazing."

After a falling out with the Miami Heat, Butler was traded to Golden State in February for a package headlined by veteran wing Andrew Wiggins.

The move paid dividends for Butler and the Warriors, as Golden State went 23-7 in the 30 regular-season games he played for the team.

Golden State also went on to beat the Memphis Grizzlies in the postseason play-in tournament before taking a 3-1 series lead over the second-seeded Rockets as the No. 7 seed.

Butler gave an already battle-tested team even more big-game experience and toughness, and it was on full display Monday, as he stood up to Brooks and came through in clutch moments.
