Ja Morant Reportedly Isn't Seen as Top-10 Player by GMs, Execs amid NBA Trade Rumors
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant reportedly isn't viewed as one of the top players in the NBA entering the 2025 offseason.
"When I'm talking to people around the league, GMs, execs, scouts, I don't have people telling me that they think Ja is a top-10 player when he's healthy anymore," ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported on Monday's episode of Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective (54:25 mark).

MacMahon also reported that there's a lot of "whispering and rumbling" around the league regarding Morant potentially being available on the trade market (57:27 mark).
The point guard averaged 23.2 points per game during his 2024-25 campaign, his lowest scoring average since the 2020-21 season. Morant recorded 7.3 assists per game but also committed a career-high 3.7 turnovers per game.
A recent lack of playoff success has likely contributed to his perception around the league as well.
After advancing to Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals in 2022, the Grizzlies haven't won a postseason series since. They were unceremoniously swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the 2025 playoffs, losing Game 1 and Game 2 by 70 combined points.
Memphis previously fired head coach Taylor Jenkins on March 28.
ESPN'sĀ Ramona Shelburne, Michael C. Wright and MacMahon reported that Morant was among the players who had "tuned out" Jenkins in the locker room prior to his firing.
While Morant has remained a high-volume scorer and is one of the league's most athletic finishers at the rim when healthy, his reputation around the NBA has reportedly fallen compared to other stars.
