Breaking Down Best and Worst Masters 2025 Odds and Selections in Augusta Field
The conversation surrounding the 2025 Masters winner starts, and in some cases, ends with Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler is the reigning champion and took home two of the last three green jackets. He is the overwhelming favorite to repeat at Augusta National Golf Club.
Scheffler is the easy pick, and he might be the right selection, but there are cases to be made for other golfers high up on the odds chart.
There's also cases to be made against some notable golfers who either don't have a great history at Augusta, are in bad major form, or both.
Best: Scottie Scheffler (+400)
1 of 4
It's easy to just bet Scheffler and nobody else.
The two-time Masters winner won the green jacket by four shots last year and he has constantly shown up at the top of major tournament leaderboards.
Scheffler has never finished outside the top 20 at Augusta and he's missed just one cut at a major dating back to 2021.
All signs point to Scheffler contending for a repeat title. It would be a bigger surprise if he wasn't in the lead, or a few shots off first place, when the back nine rolls around on Sunday.
Other golfers could win the Masters, but Scheffler's track record is too good to completely ignore.
Best: Collin Morikawa (+1800)
2 of 4
Collin Morikawa owns three straight top-10 finishes at Augusta.
Morikawa was one of the most consistent major-tournament players in 2024. He finished inside the top 20 at all of the majors.
He hasn't won yet on the PGA Tour this season, but he placed inside the top 20 in each of his five starts, including two second-place finishes and a top-10 at the Players Championship.
Additionally, Morikawa hasn't shot worse than 72 in a final round this season. He fired two 67s and a 69 in three of those final 18 holes.
The two-time major winner has the overall consistency and title-winning experience to not just contend, but to finish the job on Sunday afternoon.
Worst: Jordan Spieth (+3500)
3 of 4
It's been a decade since Jordan Spieth won his green jacket.
Since then, Spieth turned in mixed results at Augusta.
Spieth missed the cut in 2022 and 2024, but he also tied for fourth in 2023 and tied for third in 2021.
You're never quite sure which version of Spieth is going to show up at a major. He hasn't finished above 23rd at a major since his tie for fourth at Augusta in 2023.
The overall consistency isn't there for Spieth to be trusted with an outright bet.
At his best, Spieth could absolutely contend, but he has a much lower floor compared to Scheffler, Morikawa and the golfers at the top of the odds board.
Worst: Patrick Cantlay (+4000)
4 of 4
Patrick Cantlay owns a single top-10 finish in seven Masters starts as a professional.
Cantlay hasn't finished higher than 14th at Augusta, a mark he achieved in 2023.
The 33-year-old struggled to be in contention at every major during his career. He has three top-10 major finishes since 2020.
Cantlay's season form isn't great, either, as he landed outside the top 10 in five of his seven PGA Tour appearances this season.
He is coming off a tie for 33rd at the Texas Open in which he completed the tournament with a 77.
A lot of factors are pointing against Cantlay being a serious contender by the weekend, and even if he gets to that point on Saturday, the final round 77 in his last start won't help any Cantlay backers rest easy on Sunday.
