Oklahoma's Jeremiah Fears Enters 2025 NBA Draft; B/R's No. 8 Overall Prospect

Julia StumbaughApr 2, 2025

Jeremiah Fears will enter the 2025 NBA draft after one season with Oklahoma.

The freshman guard announced his decision Wednesday on ESPN's The Paul Finebaum Show, per ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

Fears averaged 17.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals while averaging 30 minutes through 34 games of his freshman season. He is ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect on B/R's latest 2025 NBA Draft Big Board.

He is also projected as the No. 6 pick in the upcoming draft in the latest mock by Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman.

Like projected top pick Cooper Flagg, Fears was originally slated to graduate high school in 2025. The 18-year-old, who is listed as 6-foot-4 and 182 pounds by the Sooners, will join Flagg as two of the youngest players projected as lottery picks.

Oklahoma bowed out of the NCAA Tournament in the Round of 64, but making it that far was in part thanks to Fears.

Some of his most productive outings of the season, including a 31-spot against Missouri and a combined 57 points in two conference tournament games, helped the Sooners qualify in March.

As Wasserman noted in his latest mock, flaws like Fears' 28.4 percent shooting rate from deep and his average of more than three turnovers per game won't dissuade any NBA teams willing to work with him on his development.

"The main questions ask whether he'll improve his shooting and decision-making, but for an 18-year-old with a heavy workload and elusiveness that aces the NBA eye test, he's made enough pull-ups and setup passes for teams to bet on his development," Wasserman wrote.

Fears told Finebaum he will spend the months leading up to the draft working on his shooting and reading of ball screens, per Givony.

Oklahoma will meanwhile be tasked with rebuilding a starting roster this offseason. Jalon Moore, Kobe Elvis, Sam Godwin and Brycen Goodine are out of eligibility, and On3's Joe Tipton reported earlier Wednesday that Duke Miles is hitting the transfer portal this spring.
