WWE Raw on Netflix Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From Belgium
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE Raw on March 17.
The European tour is officially underway, and since Raw is now on Netflix, fans in the U.S. were able to watch the show live in the afternoon instead of having to wait until a pre-recorded episode aired at the usual time.
Following John Cena's betrayal at Elimination Chamber, Cody Rhodes has been waiting for the chance to confront him, and he got that opportunity this week.
We also got the usual array of action, including an Intercontinental Championship match between Bron Breakker and Finn Balor.
WrestleMania 41 is still over a month away, so WWE has a lot of time to build all of the storylines and make each feud feel important.
Let's take a look at everything that happened on Monday's international episode of Raw at Forest National in Brussels, Belgium.
John Cena
1 of 7
The Brussels crowd held up signs to create the Belgian flag as the show opened. Corey Graves and Michael Cole welcomed us before throwing to a video recap of Cena and Rhodes' recent storyline.
When Cena came out, the crowd erupted with boos. The usually smiling Cena walked to the ring without his usual energy. The crowd broke out into dueling "Let's go Cena" and "Cena sucks" chants. The 16-time champion stood silently for a long time and let them chant.
He acted like he was going to leave without saying anything before picking up the mic and giving one of his motivational Twitter/X quotes. He said he has been the victim in an abusive relationship for 25 years with the crowd.
Cena claimed he is neither a babyface nor a heel, he is a human being. He said every fan has been awful to him and went on a rant about how he tried to change for them only to continue getting booed.
He said he was breaking up with the crowd shortly before Rhodes made his entrance.
The American Nightmare ripped into Cena for turning on everyone and said he wants to face the best Cena at WrestleMania instead of the "whiny b---h" in front of him.
While he may have gone a little heavy on the "you people" part of this promo, Cena sold the hell out of his heel turn. He used real facts about the crowd's treatment of him to back up his feelings.
This was exactly what it needed to be, and the crowd helped make it work by being so vocal.
Grade: A-
Notable Moments and Observations
—WWE put yellow in the Raw logo for the flag of Belgium.
—Cena is not wrong about the crowd hating him for no reason during his run.
—Someone had a "Break a Wish" sign in the crowd to mock Cena.
—This segment lasted almost half an hour.
Ludwig Kaiser vs. Penta
2 of 7
The first fight on the show saw Kaiser take on Penta in a No Holds Barred match. Penta won their first singles encounter, and Kaiser won a Triple Threat they were in, so it felt like an even matchup coming into this.
The masked man took control early and sent Kaiser out of the ring. He walked across the barricade and hit a hurricanrana before Gunther's right-hand man began grabbing chairs from under the ring.
This was a good, competitive match, but the No Holds Barred stipulation wasn't used to its fullest potential. Other than a few chair spots, we didn't get much hardcore action.
Penta scored a definitive win with his finisher after hitting a diving destroyer on a steel chair.
Result: Penta defeated Kaiser
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—The crowd was loud for Penta with chants.
—WWE was running behind on commercials, so the first break wasn't very far into the match.
—The back body drop onto the table was timed perfectly.
Dakota Kai vs. Ivy Nile
3 of 7
Chad Gable and the Creeds were at ringside to watch Ivy Nile take on Dakota Kai.
Nile looked surprised to see Gable show up late for the match.
Kai took control for a moment, but a German suplex from Nile put her down for a two-count.
Gable got on the apron and gave Nile some help with a distraction, but Kai kicked out of the DDT she hit. Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee showed up and took out American Made before chasing Gable through the crowd.
Nile was distracted and Kai was able to hit a running kick followed by the GTK for the pin and the win.
This was short and had a lot of shenanigans at ringside, but everything the two performers in the ring did looked good.
Result: Kai defeated Nile
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
—Nile's German suplex looked great.
—Kai rolling from a suplex into an inside cradle looked very smooth.
Jey Uso vs. Austin Theory
4 of 7
Bianca Belair and Iyo Sky signed the contract for their upcoming title match at WrestleMania 41, but Rhea Ripley showed up and attacked both women.
The Eradicator picked up the contract and signed it as Adam Pearce yelled at her to give it back. It looks like we might be getting a Triple Threat at 'Mania now.
Jey Uso was out next to take on Austin Theory in singles competition. Grayson Waller helped by distracting Uso as soon as the bell rang so Theory could get the upper hand.
Uso made a quick comeback and hit a Spear for a win in about a minute. This ended up being a surprising squash, but the fight continued after the bell as he took out Waller, too.
Gunther showed up and tried to choke out Uso, but the No. 1 contender fought back and ripped the World Heavyweight Championship belt off his waist.
Result: Uso defeated Theory
Grade: Incomplete
Notable Moments and Observations
—Gunther should never look intimidated. It just feels wrong.
—Theory and Waller have gone as far as they can go as a team. It's time to break them up.
The Creeds vs. LWO
5 of 7
Julius and Brutus Creed faced Mysterio and Lee in tag team action, but Gable was nowhere to be seen when the match began.
The luchadores managed to get in a handful of moves before Julius took control as the show went to a break.
The match didn't last long once we returned. Lee and Mysterio were able to score the win, but Grande Americano showed up and took them out once it was over.
This was fine but too short to be memorable. The story WWE is telling here is weird so far, but everyone involved is a good performer, so it could turn out to be good in the end. Or it could be a disaster. We'll see.
Result: Lee and Mysterio defeated The Creeds
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
—Julius did a good job catching Rey when it looked like he might fall short of reaching him.
—This Americano guy looks familiar but we can't place it.
Bron Breakker vs. Finn Balor (Intercontinental Championship)
6 of 7
Seth Rollins came to the ring to talk about Roman Reigns, CM Punk and everything else that has been going on recently. He said he might have to take a trip to SmackDown to see them this week because he has unfinished business.
Balor didn't have anyone else from The Judgment Day with him for the main event IC title bout against Breakker, so his usual unfair advantage was gone.
The champion used his speed and power to take control right out of the gate, but Balor managed to hit a sling blade at ringside to bring him down before the break.
Carlito and Dominik Mysterio arrived to try to provide support for Balor as the match heated up.
This was easily the best performance on the entire show and made Breakker look like he belonged in the ring with a veteran like Balor. He was able to hit a Spear to retain the title in one of his better defenses to date.
Penta saved Breakker from a post-match attack, but he made it clear he wants the next title shot as the show went off the air.
Result: Breakker defeated Balor
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—AJ Styles and Karrion Kross had a talk backstage.
—The way Breakker hits a shoulder tackle looks so much more devastating than when other people do it.
—Breakker's dive from the apron to send Balor over the announce table was a brutal spot.
The Final Word
7 of 7This week's Raw aired much earlier in the United States than usual due to taking place in Europe, but the biggest takeaway was how excited the Belgian fans were.
They were chanting, cheering and booing for everything as if it was the best or worst thing ever, and that always makes for a more enjoyable viewing experience at home.
The promo from Cena to cement his heel turn was exactly what he needed to do in order to make his turn convincing. Everything he said was true, but he skewed it to fit his own narrative like a pro.
When it comes to in-ring action, nothing on the episode came close to the main event with Breakker and Balor. They didn't necessarily put on a Match of the Year candidate, but they stole the show with a fun contest.
The show as a whole didn't feel like much, but the two segments that bookended it were both very enjoyable.
