Hanna Cavinder: 'I Was Not Involved at All' in Carson Beck's Miami Transfer from UGA
Miami women's basketball guard Hanna Cavinder denies that she was involved in her boyfriend Carson Beck's decision to transfer from Georgia to Miami ahead of the 2025-26 football season.
"Honestly, I was not involved at all," Cavinder told ESPN’s Christine Williamson on Tuesday's episode of SportsCenter (h/t On3's Grant Grubbs.) "I know that a lot of people probably think that. But no, I was not involved at all.
"It was honestly what was the best decision for him and where he was gonna fit and be able to be successful. I’m super excited for him. It’s very convenient. Obviously, you can’t beat Miami and the people here.”
Beck confirmed he was dating Cavinder in August, ahead of what was expected to be his final college season with Georgia.
After struggling with passing accuracy while throwing a career-high 12 interceptions, Beck announced in January his withdrawal from the 2025 NFL draft and entry to the transfer portal.
One day later, Beck declared he would be transferring to Miami for a sixth college season.
The Athletic's Manny Navarro and Bruce Feldman reported after Beck's commitment he was "the only quarterback Miami's coaching staff really wanted" this offseason.
Beck had already secured almost $10 million in combined deals through brand agreements and a Miami NIL collective at the time of the transfer, per Daniel Roberts and David Rumsey of Front Office Sports.
Cavinder, who took the 2023-24 season away from college basketball, announced her return to Miami alongside her twin sister Haley for a final college season last April.
She is averaging 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for the Hurricanes, who are on track to miss the NCAA tournament.
Beck will now prepare to replace departing Miami starter Cam Ward as the Hurricanes' QB1 next fall.
