—The Butcher vs. Gabe Kidd
—Hologram vs. The Beast Mortos
—The Death Riders vs. Daddy Magic, Angelo Parker and Daniel Garcia (Trios Championships)
—The Murder Monsters in action
Let's take a look at everything that happened on Saturday's show.
The Beast Mortos vs. Hologram
1 of 6
Mariah May attacked Toni Storm as soon as Collision came on the air. She dragged her out to the stage and demanded the spotlight. She told an unconscious Storm that she was going to write the ending of Storm's story in her blood.
The Beast Mortos immediately asserted his dominance over Hologram when their match began. His power advantage was significant, but Hologram found a way to use his speed and agility to take control.
They worked through a break into the next segment and had the crowd chanting "This is awesome" withing seconds of the show returning from the commercial.
There are going to be moments of imperfection in any match with this amount of high-flying maneuvers combined with a fast past, but this match had very few. This was an incredibly entertaining display of lucha libre action.
Hologram scored the win with a great pinning combination. The crowd was really into this bout, but Mortos turned their cheers to boos when he attacked Hologram after the bell. Komander made the save and helped Hologram save his mask from being removed.
Result: Hologram defeated Beast Mortos
Grade: A-
Notable Moments and Observations
—Kazuchika Okada bragged about beating Buddy Matthews in a backstage promo and challenged anyone else to step up.
—Hologram's triple rotation headscissor takedown is a great move to make him stand out from the other luchadores in AEW.
—Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone, the original AEW commentary team, was on the desk this week.
—Hologram's suicide dive looked cool, but the way it ended could have been much worse. Hologram came close to going over the barricade into the crowd.
The Butcher vs. Gabe Kidd
2 of 6
Harley Cameron got a huge pop when she came out to give a promo. She gave a passionate speech and had the crowd in the palm of her hand. AEW has something special with this woman and she is running with every single opportunity she is given.
The next match saw NJPW's Kidd make his Collision debut against The Butcher. While The Butcher had a small size advantage, it made no difference. Kidd took control almost immediately.
Don Callis was shown watching from backstage as the NJPW star talked a lot of trash and controlled the pace for the majority of the match. He won a somewhat short but hard-hitting encounter. This was fun for what it was.
Kidd could be a good fit in AEW if that day ever comes when he is looking to move to a new promotion.
Result: Kidd defeated Butcher
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—Kidd did not have his openweight title with him.
—Kidd's chest was pretty red after the exchange of chops.
Queen Aminata vs. Julia Hart
3 of 6
Julia Hart took on Queen Aminata in the third match of the night. The former TBS champion had the same entrance as usual, but there was something a little different about her this week.
She was actually smiling and jumping around a bit like she was excited, which is the opposite of the cold and calculated Hart we have been used to for so long.
With Brody King and Matthews showing more personality lately, it's possible we are seeing Hart beginning to evolve her character.
This was a competitive and well-balanced match. Both women looked strong, but Hart was able to get the submission victory without resorting to using mist of breaking any rules.
Result: Hart defeated Aminata
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—King and Matthews were not in Hart's corner this week. It seems to be random when they appear together.
—Aminata's running boot in the corner looked awesome. Hart sold it well.
—It almost sounded like JR called Julia "Jimmy Hart."
Murder Machines Squash, Trios Title Match
4 of 6
Brian Cage and Lance Archer brought out two guys during their entrance that they quickly destroyed for a squash victory. They called out The Hurt Syndicate for a title match, and it took the tag champs almost no time to come out. MVP said they could get a title shot if they win against a better team next week.
Result: The Murder Machines won
Grade: Incomplete
The next match featured Pac, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta putting the Trios Championships on the line against Garcia, Magic and Parker.
Yuta and Parker began the action, but Claudio came in and took over with a huge uppercut that almost got him a quick win.
Cool Hand Ang took a lot of damage before he was able to tag out to Magic. The challengers gained a lot of momentum before the show went to a break.
Other than a few short sequences, The Death Riders were in control. This was a pretty dominant performance from a team that has needed to make these titles feel more important for quite some time.
This was a fun bout, but the outcome was never in question. Garcia came close to winning with his signature submission at one point, but it wasn't enough. Parker tapped out to Pac's Brutalizer submission to end the match, but Pac refused to release the hold.
The Undisputed Kingdom came out and fought The Death Riders to make the save.
Result: The Death Riders defeated Garcia, Magic and Parker
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—MVP made a good Freddie Mercury reference during his promo.
—Garcia was the most over with the crowd.
—Castagnoli is one of the most consistent performers in the world. He can't put on a bad performance.
Max Caster vs. Brody King
5 of 6
Max Caster came out to hold an open challenge, but he was a little upset to see Brody King answer the call.
King offered a handshake and squeezed until Caster begged to be let go. The so-called Best Wrestler Alive hit a low dropkick to take the big man off his feet, but King countered him into a headscissor submission. King won with a cannonball to end a short match. This wasn't quite a squash, but it was close.
Result: King defeated Caster
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
—Taya Valkyrie and Deonna Purrazzo gave a quick interview backstage to insult Cameron.
—The Outrunners agreed to face Cage and Archer next week during a backstage segment.
Chris Jericho vs. Bandido (ROH Title)
6 of 6
Bandido offered a handshake to adhere to the Code of Honor for this world title bout, but they both used it as an opportunity to talk some trash. Jericho poked him in the eye to get an immediate advantage.
Jericho hasn't had many high-profile matches lately, but he was trying hard to keep up with his younger opponent and prove he was still capable of working the lucha style.
Both men did a good job making this look like a tough fight. In fact, this was probably one of the better performances we have seen from Jericho in quite some time.
After a hard-fought match, Jericho won with a counter to Bandido's finisher into a pin. He didn't even need any help from Big Bill or Bryan Keith this time.
Result: Jericho defeated Bandido
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—Bandido's gear was more colorful than he usually wears.
—There was almost a countout during the break, which goes up to 20 in ROH rules.
—The announcers noted that Bandido didn't seem to be able to get his balance after the break.
—The moonsault slam Bandido hit almost ended with his head being spiked into the mat.
