The Tigers prevailed 94-85 in a battle of the two best teams in men's basketball, improving to 23-2 on the season. The Crimson Tide now sit fourth with a 21-4 overall record.

Michigan was the biggest riser in the poll, climbing eight places to No. 12 after upsetting Purdue and hanging on to beat Ohio State on Sunday.
Heading into the week, all eyes were on Auburn vs. Alabama for the most anticipated matchup in the long history between the two schools.
While it wasn't a blowout, it didn't prove to be the back-and-forth affair fans were hoping to witness. The Tigers went wire-to-wire, jumping out to an early 9-0 lead within the first two minutes and never looking back.
Alabama guard Chris Youngblood tied it up at 68-68 with 7:23 left in the second half, but the Tide were unable to lead at any point in the contest. That was the closest they came to turning the tables on the Tigers before Auburn reestablished its advantage.
Three-point shooting played an important role in the outcome. Auburn went 12-of-30 from beyond the arc compared to just 5-of-26 for Alabama, and that helped to nullify the Crimson Tide's 14-point scoring edge in the paint.
Guards Denver Jones and Miles Kelly combined for 31 points, while forward Johni Broome added 19 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Chaney Johnson and guards Chad Baker-Mazara and Tahaad Pettiford all scored in double figures to ensure Auburn is standing alone atop the SEC standings.
This past Saturday saw two other notable Top 25 clashes.
Houston now has a two-game cushion in first place in the Big 12 after going on the road and beating Arizona 62-58 in Tucson.
Cougars guards Milos Uzan and L.J. Cryer accounted for just over half of their team's offensive output as they dropped 19 and 15 points apiece.
Arizona fans got the full Caleb Love experience as the experienced guard had 17 points and seven assists while playing some excellent defense. His shot selection left something to be desired, though, as he went 1-of-8 on threes.
Over in the Big Ten, a 94-84 loss to Wisconsin put the button on a tough week for Purdue.
The Boilermakers had no answer for Badgers star John Tonje, who finished with 32 points, six rebounds, three assists and one block. Wisconsin as a team shot a scorching 61.5 percent from the field.
Purdue came up short in its other game last week, losing 75-73 to the Wolverines. That result and Michigan State's 71-67 upset at the hands of Indiana means the Wolverines have sole possession of first in the Big Ten.
The gap between first and sixth is only 2.5 games, though, so there can still be plenty of movement over the final three weeks.
