Scott PolacekFeb 11, 2025

And then there were four.

Napheesa Collier, Arike Ogunbowale, Aaliyah Edwards and Azurá Stevens advanced to the semifinals of the inaugural Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament with impressive showings in Tuesday's action.

The 1-on-1 tournament started with 30 competitors battling for the $350,000 in prize money. The winner will receive $200,000, while clubmates of the winner will receive $10,000 each. What's more, the runner-up will receive $50,000 and the two semifinalists who do not advance to the finals will make $25,000 each.

That means the four semifinalists secured a share of the prize money.

The tournament started Monday with the first round, and headline results included Edwards defeating league co-founder Breanna Stewart and Kahleah Copper defeating Aliyah Boston.

It led to seven second-round matchups with Edwards getting a bye into the quarterfinals after her win over Stewart and the four quarterfinal showdowns on Tuesday. Here is a look at Tuesday's full results for a bracket that can be found on Unrivaled's website.

Second Round Results

Allisha Gray def. Kahleah Copper, 11-5

Rae Burrell def. Jewell Loyd, 11-4

Azurá Stevens def. Shakira Austin, 11-4

Napheesa Collier def. Rickea Jackson, 12-5

Courtney Williams def. Rhyne Howard, 11-9

Arike Ogunbowale def. Skylar Diggins-Smith, 12-8

Satou Sabally def. DiJonai Carrington, 11-4

It took some time in the second round for fans to be treated to a close matchup, but Courtney Williams and Rhyne Howard provided just that.

Williams jumped out to a quick lead and unleashed some of her patented trash talk, but Howard went on a run to take the lead herself. It seemed like Howard's size and quickness was going to be too much for Williams until the latter drew a foul on a three-point attempt trailing 9-8.

That gave her a free throw worth three points, and she drained it for the win.

Prior to the back-and-forth showdown, Collier continued her individual dominance with a combination of unstoppable fadeaway shots and impressive defense. That she won against Rickea Jackson came as no surprise, but there was quite the surprise when Rae Burrell defeated top-seed Jewell Loyd.

It was one of the most shocking results of Tuesday's action, but Burrell left no doubt.

The action all built toward the highly anticipated Notre Dame battle between Ogunbowale and Skylar Diggins-Smith. Ogunbowale advanced by using her physicality to get to the basket, but only after Diggins-Smith jumped out to an early lead with her shooting.

Quarterfinal Results

Aaliyah Edwards def. Allisha Gray, 12-6

Azurá Stevens def. Rae Burrell, 12-2

Napheesa Collier def. Courtney Williams, 12-4

Arike Ogunbowale def. Satou Sabally, 12-8

Edwards made the most headlines in the first round with her win over Stewart and wasted no time picking up where she left off when she took the court for the first time Tuesday.

She used her overwhelming physicality and quick first step to power her way through a quarterfinals matchup against Allisha Gray. Gray's biggest advantage figured to be with the outside shot, but she never established it as Edwards set the tone.

It was the most physical matchup of the day, and the victor appeared fresher by the end after enjoying a second-round bye.

Stevens is another player who seemed to have a size and physicality advantage in her quarterfinals matchup against Burrell, but she showed off another side of her game in a blowout win.

After getting to the basket a couple of times, she extended her offensive approach to beyond the arc. That left Burrell with no chance as Stevens advanced to the semifinals.

But this is Collier's tournament to lose.

Williams did what she could with her trash talking and willingness to play pressure defense, but it was no matter. Collier consistently dropped her smooth fadeaway shots from inside the paint and mixed in a timely outside shot to create separation.

If she continues to play like that, it is difficult to envision anyone defeating her.

It won't be easy to defeat Ogunbowale either.

She immediately set the tone against Sabally with her outside shooting to build a big lead before her competition closed the gap some. Still, it was too little and too late, and Ogunbowale clinched the win with a free throw.

The four semifinalists will now turn their attention toward the battle for the trophy and cash prize.

The semifinals and finals are Friday.
