Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens at WWE Beast from the East Must Have No Interference

Sebastian MaldonadoJul 2, 2015

WWE fans in Japan are in for a treat come July 4.

WWE’s “The Beast in The East” two-hour event will take place in the Ryougoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo at 5:30 a.m. EST. The card features a returning Brock Lesnar scheduled to face Kofi Kingston, Neville vs. Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler teaming with United States champion John Cena to face King Barrett and Kane.

Despite the star power in this fight card, none of those bouts are expected to be the main event.

The match everyone is seemingly waiting for in anticipation is Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor, a battle for Owens’ NXT championship.

Owens made himself a marked man from the minute he debuted last year at NXT. He holds the NXT championship with a death grip, defeating every challenger that’s tried to take his title from him.

Balor is the fan favorite, making quite the splash with his demon persona. He loves playing mind games with his opponents while covered in body paint, bearing a resemblance to a comic book character.

A great deal is on the line, but none more so than pride. This could get in the way of this match, as Owens has made a plethora of enemies who would love to see him fall from grace. With so much on the line, it makes sense to let these two men fight without any help.

Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor must have no interference at WWE’s “The Beast From the East.”

These warriors are well-versed in their craft. Owens, the champion, is the arrogant powerhouse who backs up what he says. Balor, the challenger, is the fearless striker who loves playing mind games with his enemies.

The match has potential to backfire on Owens. The champion could see a few people interfere and cost Owens the title. Former champion Sami Zayn could help Balor win, as could Cena or Samoa Joe. Cena is the man who will face Owens at July 19’s Battleground, a bout which will be for Cena’s U.S. title.

A lot rides on Owens in this bout. The NXT champion has yet to be defeated by any NXT Superstar in a singles match. His only loss at NXT came from Balor, who pinned Owens in a tag team match where Balor teamed with Samoa Joe and Owens with Rhyno.

Anyone interfering would shortchange Balor’s possible victory over Owens, although the fans might not even care who interferes on Balor’s behalf.

Balor earned worldwide fame in Japan and over the years, fans in the Land of the Rising Sun love him, no matter what he does.

Another factor to consider is the rematch potential. These two already fought, with Owens getting the better of the exchange on the March 25 episode of NXT. If Balor wins, it would be more impressive if he achieved victory on his own.

This brings us to his demon persona. Balor’s undefeated when he’s let the demon loose. Strangely enough, all of his losses have come when he doesn’t don the body paint.

The marketing is clear that Balor’s bringing the demon with him, which definitely signifies he’s prepared for war in the ring.

If Owens defeats Balor in his demon psyche, Owens would then come off as a man who fears no one and nothing in the WWE.

Regardless, the anticipation for this title bout screams match of the year. But it won’t happen if others interfere.

Frankly, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor settling their differences one-on-one is the better story.
