Kansas City Chiefs' New Offense: Time to Set Pro Football Back 40 Years
It occurred to me over the weekend how the Chiefs can fix their offense...by using an offense usually only seen college.
No, I am not talking about the spread the Chiefs used last offseason. In general, you need some decent speedy receivers for the spread.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
No, this year, the Chiefs should borrow a different college offense...the flexbone. Look at this roster and tell me they couldn't excel at it.
Okay, okay, sure, I hear you. Cassel can't run and Croyle is made of ash, but throw the other guy in.
Yeah, that guy. The one who ran the spread last year.
Think about how much better he could be running the triple option with LJ as the fullback, and Jackie B and Charles as the slot backs.
Bad offensive line, you say? They just have to run-block. Shove the defenses back. Linemen will consistently tell you they love attacking the defense on run plays, so let 'em. Swap a slot back for Ryan or Cottam and overwhelm one side of the line, running right at them.
Can't pass protect? No problem. The Chiefs would probably only throw the ball one in eight offensive plays and the defense would be so worried about the option, the B boys on the end (Bowe and Bradley) could surely beat single coverage (a safety would be in the box).
Is there too much pressure on Haley (by the way, hey, Todd, where did you get the pimp Dallas Texans hat you were photographed with the other day? It is not on the Chiefs' website. Hook us up!) as the head coach, OC, and QB coach?
No problem—the flexbone is tricky, but not complex. Not much game-planning needed.
QB coach? Sure, there would be some new stuff for Thigs to learn, but mostly he has to read the defense to see where to run, and learn how to pitch the rock.
Cassel? Good question.
Maybe Denver would still be interested...
