WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from June 18
With the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar set in stone for the 2015 edition of Battleground, the company presented this week's SmackDown on Thursday night and gave fans a hint at what else they can expect to see at the July 19 pay-per-view in St. Louis.
Dean Ambrose again found himself at odds with Kane and Sheamus, and he was left to fight his battle alone until Roman Reigns made the save.
Reigns himself was preoccupied, his thoughts with his family, who had been threatened by Bray Wyatt just days earlier on Raw.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
How would that effect the Juggernaut's ability to fuel his team to victory over the Celtic Warrior and director of operations in the night's main event?
Paige's issues with the Bella Twins continued, as she squared off with Brie Bella before an unexpected assailant corrupting the outcome. Neville continued his momentous week with a win over Xavier Woods, and Dolph Ziggler picked up a victory over Bo Dallas with the Ravishing Russian Lana watching from ringside.
Who emerged from this week's broadcast the biggest winners and losers? Take a look for yourself.
Winner: Sheamus
For the first time since winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, Sheamus had the opportunity to address the WWE Universe. He did not say anything of any real interest, but the fact he had the chance to kick off the show was a nice change of pace for both him and the fans.
From there, he stood alongside Kane and battled Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in the night's main event, a position he arguably should have been in from the minute he returned on the post-WrestleMania episode of Raw.
Like him or not, Sheamus is one of the most consistent workers on the roster. He has gotten some truly great matches out of Superstars of varying sizes, shapes and styles, including a legitimate Match of the Year candidate out of Big Show a few years back.
While winning the briefcase made zero sense from a storyline standpoint, Sheamus deserves a run as a main event heel, especially given how few of those there are on the current roster.
Loser: Dolph Ziggler
The Show Off is in an unenviable position at this point.
He is essentially involved in a program with Rusev but cannot actually work with the Bulgarian Brute because of his injured foot. That means Ziggler is stuck floating around the midcard without any real endgame in sight, wrestling glorified jobbers such as Bo Dallas and making out with Lana, then repeating the process the following Monday and Thursday.
Until Rusev is cleared to compete, Ziggler will continue to mix it up with midcard fodder, occasionally sneak into a high-profile match against Sheamus or Seth Rollins, then return to a state of limbo.
It is a gigantic waste of someone as talented as Ziggler, but it is something necessary, given WWE Creative again booked itself into a corner.
Winner: Alicia Fox
One of the more underutilized Divas on the roster, Alicia Fox found herself thrust into the ongoing rivalry between Paige and the Bella Twins on Thursday night when she cost the Brit a match against Brie.
It was a bit of booking that made perfect sense within the context of the story being told. Over the last year, Paige has managed to alienate herself from the rest of the Divas roster. Now that she is imploring them to stand up to the Bellas, she is finding it difficult. One of her most intense rivals, Fox, took it a step further by not only costing Paige a victory but aligning herself with Brie and Nikki.
While it is unlikely Fox will take a starring role on the show, she is sure to enjoy some increased television time. As a talented worker who has seen her pushes unnecessarily staggered on and off over the years, she certainly deserves to have time to shine on both Raw and SmackDown going forward.
Hopefully this renewed interest from WWE Creative leads to just that.
