Sheamus Wins the Money in the Bank Ladder Match
The Money in the Bank ladder match at the Money in the Bank event looked extremely predictable on paper, since Roman Reigns was a significant favorite. However, WWE managed to swerve fans by giving the victory to Sheamus. With the win, the Celtic Warrior is now in position to potentially become WWE World Heavyweight champion for the third time.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Was Sheamus the Right Choice to Win?
Very few considered Sheamus to be a legitimate contender entering Money in the Bank because he wasn't built to look like a particularly credible threat. Although he defeated Dolph Ziggler at Payback, he previously lost to him at Extreme Rules. The Ireland-born Superstar also fell at Elimination Chamber, where he was pinned by Ryback in the chamber match for the vacant Intercontinental Championship.
Despite the perception that Sheamus was wallowing in the midcard, WWE pulled the trigger on a major push. Reigns, who most figured would come out on top, was stymied by Bray Wyatt, who pushed over the ladder as Reigns was about to grab the briefcase. Reigns has long been heralded as a future world champion, but his wait will continue. Sheamus, meanwhile, is now just one opportunity and victory away from returning to the top of the company.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
Sheamus may be far from a perfect Superstar, but he is better than many are willing to give him credit for. His in-ring work is nearly always on point, as he can put on a solid match with pretty much anyone on the roster. Also, while his character as a face grew quite stale, he has been freshened up by a heel turn. Even so, it is tough to make an argument in favor of Sheamus being a better choice to win Money in the Bank than Reigns.
Even though Reigns still has his detractors, he has made major strides in recent months. It isn't a stretch to say that he was involved in the best matches at Fastlane, WrestleMania, Extreme Rules and Payback. He has also gotten more comfortable on the mic, which was one of the biggest criticisms against him previously.
On top of that, WWE would have had a ton of options had Reigns won the briefcase, given he has had issues with both Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar and because his friendship with Dean Ambrose could have come into play.
Sheamus could be an intriguing Money in the Bank holder if WWE decides to do something that should have been done a long time ago and align him with the Authority. However, the company seemingly overthought the decision and passed up on the best option because of that.

Brock Lesnar Returns to Challenge Seth Rollins
WWE fans have eagerly anticipated the return of Brock Lesnar since he was suspended by Stephanie McMahon for assaulting WWE staff the night after WrestleMania. The long wait finally came to an end on Raw, when Triple H revealed the Beast Incarnate to be the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and Seth Rollins' opponent at Battleground.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Is This the End of Rollins' Title Reign?
It seemed likely that Lesnar's first match back would occur at SummerSlam, given it is a huge event, but WWE decided to bring him back a bit earlier, which is understandable because his presence will generate a great deal of interest in Battleground.
While there is still a month during which to build the event, the card isn't shaping up to be great. That doesn't matter much from WWE's perspective, though, since fans still want to see the Conquerer compete.
Rollins essentially stole the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Lesnar at WrestleMania, as he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and pinned Reigns. The Beast was poised to get his revenge on Rollins the next night on Raw, but his temper got the best of him. Lesnar certainly hasn't forgotten what the so-called future of WWE did, and he'll have plenty of frustration to take out on him at Battleground.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
Rollins had been testing the patience of the Authority with his selfishness for several weeks now. Although he did manage to beat Dean Ambrose by himself at Money in the Bank, he owes much of his title reign to the likes of Triple H, Stephanie, Kane and J&J Security.
In an effort to see if Rollins is as good as he believes himself to be, the Game forced him into the biggest and most difficult match of his career against Lesnar.
There is undoubtedly a great deal of animosity between Rollins and the Authority at present, but things aren't exactly rosy when it comes Lesnar and the Authority, given they suspended him in the first place.
Since Rollins didn't get any help whatsoever at Money in the Bank, it seems quite possible that he'll have to confront the Beast Incarnate on his own at Battleground. If that is the case, then WWE would be wise to have Rollins put forth a valiant effort, but the title is likely to end up back around Lesnar's waist.

RRR Interview with WWE's Neville
After enjoying the longest reign as NXT champion in the brand's history, Neville made his WWE roster debut the night after WrestleMania 31. He has put on fantastic matches and dazzled the WWE Universe with his high-flying offense ever since. The British Superstar is one of the fastest-rising talents in wrestling, and he recently sat down with Ring Rust Radio to discuss his ascent.
Question on Everybody's Mind: What's Next for Neville?
It didn't take Neville long to emerge as one of the top stars in NXT, but fans always have some concern when it comes to how well a wrestler will transition from developmental to the main roster. The Man That Gravity Forgot had those same concerns, but he feels as though things ended up working out perfectly in that regard.
"I think NXT prepared me for Raw and SmackDown more than I ever could have hoped for. I was with NXT for about two years, so by the time I debuted on Raw, I felt very much ready.
There was a level of concern, but I was lucky in the sense that I got the chance to wrestle some of the top guys early on. Guys like Seth Rollins, Sheamus and, more recently, John Cena. So it was a concern that I wouldn't get those types of opportunities when I came in, but I was fortunate enough to get them and grab them. I was very happy in the way I transferred and the opportunities I got.
"
Neville has been featured heavily on both Raw and SmackDown thus far, and he has also competed in several pay-per-view matches against the likes of King Barrett and Bo Dallas. He was a part of the Money in the Bank ladder match, and although he didn't come out on top, there is little doubt that the New Sensation's future is very bright.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
While Neville is no longer part of the NXT brand, he will always be viewed as an NXT guy, since that is where he honed his craft after making the leap from the independent scene. It is clear Neville takes great pride in the fact that he developed in NXT as well, and he doesn't hesitate to put it on a similar level as Raw and SmackDown.
"I feel like the NXT brand became its own thing by itself. You have to watch the NXT shows to realize the depth of talent the NXT brand has compared to Raw and SmackDown. That's a real testimony to the guys and girls at NXT. It shows how hard they work to put on such a great product that it's become its own brand.
It's now becoming more heavily featured on Raw and SmackDown. I think that is just awesome.
"
There is a lot of excitement regarding WWE's future, largely because of the high-level talent NXT has been churning out. Neville is one of the chief examples of that, and he is living proof that it is possible to make a smooth transition from NXT to WWE.
Neville has all the makings of an eventual top star and potential WWE World Heavyweight champion, and the manner in which NXT prepares its Superstars is a huge reason for that.
