Sheamus Must Feud with Neville Leading Up to WWE Battleground 2015
WWE Battleground is shaping up to be quite the event on WWE Network come July 19.
Brock Lesnar returns and is scheduled to face Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship, and Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt will battle in a clash of heavyweights.
The rest of the card is a mystery, particularly regarding Sheamus, the new Mr. Money in the Bank.

Sheamus capitalized on winning the briefcase by dragging Neville off of the ladder by the young superstar’s hair. The Celtic Warrior, the last man standing, took the briefcase in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
The next night featured an odd occurrence. Let’s just say it was déjà vu all over again.
Sheamus interrupted Dean Ambrose during the opening segment of Raw this past Monday. They proceeded to wrestle in a match, when Sheamus started to leave the ring after a hard-fought battle.
Suddenly, Randy Orton appeared and distracted Sheamus. Orton cost Sheamus the match with Ambrose getting the victory with a schoolboy. Sheamus got his revenge later that night by helping Kane defeat Orton.
Meanwhile, Neville teamed with the Prime Time Players to defeat New Day.
SmackDown didn’t fare any better for either man. Thursday's episode saw Sheamus and Kane defeating Reigns and Ambrose in the main event. Neville continued his feud with New Day by beating Xavier Woods.
Here lies the problem. Neville could’ve gotten a big push by feuding with Sheamus, but apparently that’s not happening. At least, they haven’t started the feud yet.
Sheamus must feud with Neville leading up to WWE Battleground.
It makes sense in terms of story. The upstart Neville came so close to winning that briefcase, only for the wily veteran in Sheamus to cost him his opportunity.
They already are doing that with Reigns and Wyatt. So the potential Neville-Sheamus bout can follow the same formula.
While the basis of this feud would be the same, the match itself would be very different. Styles make fights, as the old saying goes.
Neville is the unique high-flyer, somersaulting in his matches and utilizing kicks. It’s all designed to beat his opponent down for the Red Arrow, the corkscrew splash on the top.
Sheamus fits the bill as a true heavyweight. His brute strength and relentless attitude has reinvigorated him as a perfect heel. He also can ground his opponent with the Cloverleaf submission, grape vining the legs while leaning on his enemy’s back.
It also would be a good test for Neville, which he sorely needs on the main roster. If you’ve seen him on NXT, then you know he can hang with the toughest wrestlers on the card.
Neville’s fought Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler and John Cena, albeit in losing efforts. Sheamus, however, is different from them altogether.
The heavyweight loves hitting hard, and the bout has the potential to sneak under the radar as a great match. Sheamus can still go at a high rate, despite the fans booing him out of the building.
Lastly, their potential feud can tell the tale of the underdog. Neville’s first year has been about him overcoming the odds, taking on more established WWE Superstars. It doesn’t get more established than Sheamus for a big-time event.
The current Mr. Money in the Bank is a former world champion and King of the Ring and Royal Rumble winner. If you want to build Neville’s toughness, there’s no other worthy opponent who can do that like Sheamus.
It’s not too late for WWE Creative to book Sheamus and Neville in a match for this year’s Battleground. However, they need to act quickly and strike while the iron is still hot.
