WWE Money in the Bank 2015: Re-Booking Full Card from PPV
Although Money in the Bank 2015 was a show with some standout matches, there were still areas in which the show could have been improved.
With low moments in and around the stellar matches, it's clear that if the option to re-book the card was taken, some things would have been done differently.
Whether it's the results in their entirety or just aspects of the match that could have enhanced the feel of the show and the overall entertainment, a few things could have been adjusted.
With an early admittance that there were a couple of bouts that couldn't really be improved, here's a re-booking of Money in the Bank 2015.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match
1 of 5
There was plenty that could have been altered slightly in the opening contest of the night, the Money in the Bank ladder match.
For starters, the flow and chemistry of the bout would have been immediately improved if there had been fewer participants.
The man who stood out as a black sheep in the field was Kane. Unfortunately for the veteran, he didn't really have much of a place in the contest and overcrowded it somewhat.
More spots from the two daredevils in the match would have also helped. Neville and Kofi Kingston were handpicked for this match because of their in-ring style, yet there just wasn't enough going on from both those guys.
Having more ladders brought into play or more daring segments would have at least added a touch of extremity to the contest.
Ryback vs. Big Show
2 of 5
One of the two shorter matches on the card featured the Intercontinental Championship, a stark contrast from the previous pay-per-view.
Elimination Chamber had a prolonged match for the strap, with Ryback coming up victorious. Yet there were just over five minutes of action, which made the whole thing feel very unimportant.
Some extended television time would have been a start here, as would the addition of a third man to the match.
With Ryback and Big Show both incredibly big, physical men, the addition of The Miz would have introduced a different dynamic.
The disqualification ending also did little to benefit either man. A win for Ryback to increase his standing as a credible champion would have been a much better fit.
Nikki Bella vs. Paige
3 of 5
A lack of conclusive and thorough booking heading toward Money in the Bank made the Divas Championship match a little stale.
The biggest thing that was wrong with the booking here was that by the time it came to the show, there was little to ramp up the interest in terms of what had gone on before.
In terms of the action itself, did the WWE need to produce the "Twin Magic" card yet again? Perhaps, because it helps to pile the heat on The Bella Twins. But that particular switch just feels slightly overdone at the moment, and a different element of controversy could have worked better.
Perhaps an interference from Brie Bella to aid her sister rather a switching of places would have been better, but there's no denying that if Paige was to lose, she couldn't lose clean.
Job done in that regard.
The Prime Time Players vs. The New Day
4 of 5
Another match that was incredibly short on television time and one that could have done with more substance in the buildup.
Although the Prime Time Players will be worthy kings of the tag division, it might have been better for The New Day to keep the straps right now.
The faction has been building up slowly but surely as credible heels, and with The Authority starting to wear a little thin, another heel stable with momentum and power would not have gone amiss.
Perhaps The New Day will be given the opportunity to regain the belts in the coming weeks, but having lost them, you wonder where the team will go next.
The Two That Were Nearly Perfect
5 of 5
As mentioned before, there were a couple of matches that couldn't have been improved too much.
One of those was John Cena vs. Kevin Owens. A Cena win before Money in the Bank would not have been seen as perfect booking to some, but when you consider what happened afterward, it was pretty decisive and clever booking.
Having Owens issue another beatdown on Cena was great to keep the feud going, and the fact Cena got the win let this rivalry go into a third and decisive battle.
Elsewhere, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose delivered a bout that was another near-perfect contest and had little that could have been improved.
Keeping the strap on Rollins to enable him to feud with Brock Lesnar was probably the right move, but it was done in such a way that Dean Ambrose still looked mightily strong.
And what that means is that in the latter part of the year, Ambrose will be back in the title picture once again.
