WWE's Top Tweets, Instagram Photos and Viral Videos for Week of June 8

Ryan DilbertJun 12, 2015

Tributes to the late Dusty Rhodes flooded the world of WWE social media.

Other noteworthy bits of WWE-related sharable content made its way around the Internet as well, but it was the heartfelt tweets remembering The American Dream that dominated. Those who called him friend, mentor or peer reached out on Twitter to remember and thank the Hall of Famer.

The other social media highlights this week included Dean Ambrose's trip to Bourbon Street, Ric Flair making a surprise appearance and CM Punk talking playoff hockey.

Ambrose himself is no social media aficionado. He has no Instagram account, and just a threadbare Twitter timeline

Snapshots of his recent adventures in New Orleans, though, were some of the most viewed images on WWE's Instagram account. It certainly helped that many of them popped up on Monday's Raw.

Still carrying Seth Rollins' world title, Ambrose wandered around New Orleans before the show, looking like he was having a blast, whether he was riding a mechanical bull or cozying up to the bar.

WWE posted a shot of him partying with some fans:

The best of the bunch is The Lunatic Fringe playing the saxophone on the street with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship hanging off his shoulder:

Raw featured Luke Harper and Erick Rowan using their new finisher to take down Los Matadores. Although they call it "The Way," it's clearly a revival of the Dudley Death Drop (3D). Fans weren't the only ones to notice.

Bubba Ray Dudley sent an angry message about the duo stealing his and Devon's signature move. Harper responded in character, sparking speculation aplenty:

There is now a good amount of buzz about a potential Wyatt Family-Dudley Boyz matchup. The tension brewing between the teams all began on Twitter, and there would-be rivalry is already more interesting than the majority of what is going on with the tag team division right now.

Elsewhere, in a video where fans can play "try to spot Tye Dillinger," WWE celebrated moments where cameramen, fans and backstage employers suffered the wrath of Superstars. Ryback, Rusev and Chyna all appear in this latest countdown video:

Even with all her recent controversial comments, it looks as if Chyna is not being given the CM Punk treatment.

The former WWE champ doesn't appear in these kinds of videos anymore. WWE has made an effort to not bring him up, even when doing a video on Money in the Bank MVPs

Punk surely doesn't care about it, especially now that the Chicago Blackhawks are in the Stanley Cup Final again. A huge fan of the team, Punk must have been thrilled that Patrick Kane and Co. took an 1-0 lead in the series.

Judging by Punk's tweet, apparently Titus O'Neil believed that win meant the Blackhawks were champs:

To be fair, O'Neil's background is in football. It's a one-and-done playoff system in that sport.

Thankfully, the NBA doesn't go that route for its playoffs. Otherwise, we wouldn't have seen the momentum swings in Game 3 or a WWE Hall of Famer make an appearance in Game 4.

Flair crashed the set as Mark Jackson and others looked to discuss the Golden State Warriors' matchup with the undermanned Cleveland Cavaliers. A Vine video captures The Nature Boy catching everyone off guard:

As one of Rhodes' biggest rivals and one of his biggest fans, it was expected that Flair would be one of the first to pay his respects to the departed legend on Twitter. Paul Heyman soon offered a series of tweets (h/t SEScoops) trying to capture what Rhodes meant to him and the business. Jim Ross wrote an excellent tribute to him for Fox Sports.

Jake Roberts said that it would be impossible to do Rhodes justice with words:

That didn't stop folks from trying, from Tommy Dreamer to Seth Rollins to Vince McMahon to Steve Austin:

Kevin Owens donned polka dots at a recent NXT show to honor Rhodes:

Sadness permeated much of these tweets. It's hard to see a member of the wrestling family go, especially one of Rhodes' stature. But the best strategy is to celebrate their life and look toward the future.

That's what makes Finn Balor's message to The American Dream so perfect:

Rhodes will clearly be missed. Thoughts and condolences go out to his family.
