WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from June 11

Erik BeastonJun 12, 2015

Neville may not be the biggest or strongest Superstar in this Sunday's Money in the Bank ladder match but Thursday night, he was the last man standing, perched atop a ladder with the coveted briefcase in-hand. It was a defining moment for the Brit and one that put him in the spotlight ahead of what will be the biggest match of his career this weekend.

For that reason, he was SmackDown's biggest winner.

The aerial star took out his fellow Money in the Bank competitors with a single dive from a ladder to the outside of the squared circle, demonstrating just how dangerous he is if allowed to soar through the air.

An afterthought throughout most of the build to the contest, it was refreshing to see the breakout star receive the attention that he did Thursday night, even if the likelihood that he leaves Sunday's show victorious is lessened significantly because of it.

The former NXT champion was hardly the only winner from Thursday's broadcast, though. And the show was not without its losers, either.

Find out which Superstars and Divas fall into those categories below.

Winner: Seth Rollins

After a incredibly stupid loss to J&J Security on Monday night, Seth Rollins rebounded Thursday, working with Dolph Ziggler to deliver a quality match that ended when the Architect scored a rollup and held the tights for the win.

It was the kind of victory a character like Rollins needs. There was no outside interference from Kane, J&J or The Authority. Instead, he picked up the victory cheating all by himself. While some fans would rather have him win cleanly to really help establish him, Rollins is a heel and heels cheat. They have been doing it for decades and it has proven effective over those many years.

Rollins needed a win in the worst way. The run-ins and constant interference from his fellow Authority mates were beginning to adversely affect him and, on top of that, were becoming incredibly stale.

This was a nice change of pace for the WWE World Heavyweight champion and a great way to gain momentum heading into Sunday's ladder match against Dean Ambrose.

Loser: The Miz

Easily the most interesting and entertaining element of the intercontinental title picture, The Miz was unceremoniously defeated Thursday night by Ryback.

All signs seemed to point toward a Triple Threat match between Ryback, Big Show and Miz at Money in the Bank but Monday night, the announcement was made that the title bout would involve only the latter two competitors.

Despite being the loudmouthed troublemaker who pretty much fueled the program, the A-Lister was deemed expendable.

But why?

Miz was doing some tremendous work following his return to television and was sacrificed to put over Ryback ahead of a match with Big Show that is almost sure to bore the fans in Columbus.

Now the former WWE champion finds himself right back in the position he was in prior to his hiatus, a lower tier midcard with little to no direction or purpose outside of infuriating (and losing) to whoever his guest is on Miz TV.

Loser: Jack Swagger

Swagger has not appeared on television regularly since Zeb Colter disappeared to have surgery. Thursday night, in his first SmackDown appearance in what felt like months, the Real American was simply fodder for King Barrett, who put the former world champion with the Bullhammer.

It was an uninspiring bit of booking from WWE Creative, who did not portray Swagger as anything but a third-tier performer.

As a talented worker, Swagger still has a lot to give, as witnessed in his program with Rusev last summer. Why allow him to waste away so far down on the card, losing job matches to a guy so inconsistently booked as Barrett?

Swagger needs Colter back, pronto, because it is easily apparent that management has no idea what to do with him without the presence of his mouthpiece to help him connect with the audience.

I would be remiss if I did not take the time to honor the late "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. The exemplification of professional wrestling, a consummate showman and father so very proud of the two sons who followed in his footsteps, he will be missed by all of those who ever had the great pleasure of watching him perform.

RIP, Dusty. May you wine and dine with kings and queens for eternity.
