Breaking Down Money in the Bank Ladder Match

The Money in the Bank ladder match is annually among the most important bouts in WWE, as it essentially names a future WWE World Heavyweight champion. Seven Superstars will do battle Sunday with the briefcase and the contract for a shot at the world title therein hanging in the balance. Though it should be a highly entertaining affair, it also seems fairly predictable on the surface.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Who Will Secure the Briefcase?

The Money in the Bank match field is certainly a talented one, as Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Neville, Kofi Kingston and Kane will all attempt to scale the ladder and take another step toward the top of the company.

While WWE could have held qualifying matches in order to better explain why someone such as Kofi is in the match, it did a good job of choosing Superstars who will put on strong in-ring performances.

Kingston and Neville are bound to bust out plenty of high spots, while Orton, Sheamus, Kane and Ziggler are all experienced in this type of matchup. It is difficult to envision any of them coming away victorious, though, as Reigns undoubtedly stands out above the rest. Not only is he the biggest star currently, but he has plenty of history with current champion and former Shield partner Seth Rollins.

Everything is pointing in Reigns' direction, and while WWE has been known to swerve the fans in the past, Money in the Bank isn't the time or place for such a move.

Ring Rust Radio's Take

A Reigns victory is about as close to a sure thing as possible, but there is always a slight chance something else could happen. It's tough to make a case for any of the other six competitors based on how they have been positioned, but if someone other than Reigns does end up winning the match, every indication is that Kane is the likeliest candidate to do so.

That's far from ideal, given he's 48 years of age and the Corporate Kane persona leaves plenty to be desired, but his tempestuous relationship with Rollins despite the fact that they are both in the Authority could facilitate a Kane victory and eventual cash-in attempt. Kane would likely become just the third Superstar to cash in and not win the title, but most fans are probably hoping it doesn't come to that.

Reigns is the clear choice, and even though some fans are still reluctant to embrace him, he has made major strides in all areas. He's ready to re-enter the main event scene, and winning the Money in the Bank briefcase is the best way to make that happen.

Predicting Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose and John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

While the Money in the Bank ladder match is usually the highlight of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, there are a couple of other matches that should hold fans' interest as well.

One of them is an additional ladder match, as Seth Rollins will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Dean Ambrose. The other is a highly anticipated rematch between United States champion John Cena and NXT champion Kevin Owens.

Question on Everybody's Mind: How Will the Top Singles Matches Play Out?

The feud between Rollins and Ambrose has existed since the Shield's architect destroyed the group last year, but the Lunatic Fringe has only recently started to get the better of the Authority's handpicked face of the company.

Ambrose didn't win the title at Elimination Chamber, as Rollins retained it by purposely getting himself disqualified, but the unstable Superstar absconded with the championship belt and has made Rollins' life a living hell ever since.

The rivalry between Cena and Owens hasn't been going on for long, but it's arguably just as personal. The NXT titleholder immediately went after the face of the company upon debuting on the main roster, and he made an almost unprecedented first impression.

Owens beat Cena fair and square at Elimination Chamber, which is something very few can say—and even fewer can say it happened in their first match. On the heels of that shocking result, Cena will look to gain some measure of revenge.

Ring Rust Radio's Take

Rollins has lost many times on Raw and SmackDown, but he always finds a way to keep the championship. His most embarrassing loss came on the go-home edition of Raw, when he lost a handicap match to J&J Security thanks to a distraction from Ambrose.

It seems like Rollins' relationship with the Authority is crumbling, but he always has something up his sleeve. Look for J&J and Kane to put their issues with Rollins aside in order to do what Triple H believes is best for business, and that is to keep the title around the waist of Rollins.

Things are a bit more unpredictable when it comes to the second meeting between Owens. Having the Canadian Superstar beat Cena for a second time would do wonders for his credibility and would firmly establish him as a top heel.

At the same time, though, history suggests that Cena doesn't lose consecutive matches to the same opponent very often. Since this is a feud that figures to continue on to Battleground and perhaps even SummerSlam, the creative team would be wise book this match evenly.

The best way to do that is for Owens to destroy Cena to the tune of a disqualification or no contest, much like he did twice against Sami Zayn in NXT. Cena could technically come away with the win, but Owens would still look strong by decimating the U.S. champ, which would also allow for the angle to continue.

RRR Interview with GFW's PJ Black

PJ Black has long been one of the best and most gifted high-flyers in the business, and he now has an opportunity to show that on a new platform.

Black, who competed in WWE as Justin Gabriel, is one of Global Force Wrestling's signature signings. The South African star will be a key figure for the promotion moving forward, and he sat down with Ring Rust Radio to discuss his transition to GFW.

Question on Everybody's Mind: What's Next for Black?

Black broke into WWE in memorable fashion as part of the Nexus stable in 2010. The group featured many talents from the developmental territory who were featured on the first season of NXT. They made an immediate impact but ultimately fizzled out.

Black chalks that up largely to John Cena, who decided to defeat Nexus at SummerSlam 2010, which essentially destroyed the group's momentum.

Once Nexus broke up, Black was never able to reach the same heights he did initially. He bounced around between tag team and singles competition. He even played the role of Adam Rose's friend and eventual nemesis, the Bunny.

Black had some ideas for that character that never came to fruition, so he went to NXT. Black got the impression that WWE, specifically Triple H, never intended to utilize him much, so he asked for his release. While Black was able to make a name for himself in WWE, he is relishing the opportunity to take the next step in GFW.

Ring Rust Radio's Take

Jeff Jarrett has a history of doing big things with start-up promotions, as evidenced by the fact TNA is still in operation. He is hoping to do something similar with GFW, and it is clear he views Black as a primary building block.

The Darewolf is extremely excited about the opportunity to show what he can do as a featured player in a wrestling company, and he feels as though he is capable of putting on great matches with anyone on the roster.

Black may not have been used to his potential in WWE, but he had his fair share of entertaining bouts, which should serve him well with GFW. He has taken the independent scene by storm since leaving WWE, and his profile will only continue to grow as Global Force Wrestling develops.
