WWE SmackDown: Spoiler-Free Preview for June 11

Ryan DilbertJun 11, 2015

Before the ladders go up at Money in the Bank and a championship opportunity changes one wrestler's career, the June 11 edition of WWE SmackDown offers a series of in-ring tuneups.

Dolph Ziggler has a shot to gain major momentum with a win over the world champ. Randy Orton, Sheamus and Roman Reigns have a collision awaiting them as well. Ryback has a fight ahead of him as a means to get ready for his upcoming WWE Intercontinental Championship bout.

And while Kevin Owens and John Cena won't be competing in the ring, the lineup does include a few wrestlers who haven't been on TV much at all lately.

Monday Night RAW

On Tuesday night, the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, hosted the go-home edition of SmackDown. This marks WWE's last push toward the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. The show won't air until Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on Syfy.

Spoilers are easy to find across the Internet. For the fans wishing to miss out on seeing the results early, the following preview takes a look at all the matches set for Thursday's SmackDown with no spoilers in sight.

Ryback vs. The Miz

It looked as if The Miz might insert himself into the burgeoning feud between Big Show and Ryback. After getting cheated out of a title opportunity last week, this past Monday saw him host both champion and challenger in a Miz TV segment.

Things again didn't turn out well for him.

A win here could mean he enters the feud or maybe even turns Sunday's title match into a Triple Threat contest. WWE has made a habit of having its IC champs lose non-title matches, so Miz isn't an unrealistic long shot.

Fans of The Big Guy hope that this is just a warm-up match for him. Should he blast The Miz with little effort, he can head into his showdown with the giant looking strong.

Jack Swagger vs. King Barrett

A rare sighting of Swagger creates a chance for Barrett to prep for his pre-show match with R-Truth.

After winning King of the Ring, Barrett has done little on TV. Being asked to take on a low-rung star like R-Truth before the Money in the Bank pay-per-view begins in earnest is not a great sign of WWE's belief in him.

He can at least take solace in the fact that he's 10 times more relevant than Swagger right now.

The powerhouse patriot has been a no-show on Raw and SmackDown as of late. If he loses with little resistance here, that trend will likely continue. Should he get more time in the ring or even pull off the win, thinks will be looking up for him.

Seth Rollins vs. Dolph Ziggler

Few guys on the roster have battled more often in the last year than Ziggler and Rollins. It's a matchup that most often creates some entertaining ring work, as these foes have strong chemistry with each other.

It's not a fresh pairing at this point, though.

This time around, Rollins will make up for an unexpected loss on Monday night. J&J Security defeated him on Raw.

Ziggler, meanwhile, has a Money in the Bank Ladder match to get ready for. Upsetting the WWE champ here will feel like a hint of his taking home the briefcase.

Win or lose, count on Lana playing a big role here. WWE is going full force with the romantic storyline between the two.

Alicia Fox vs. Paige

Like Swagger, Fox has not had much to do as of late.

WWE has chosen to zero in on Naomi, the Bella sisters and Paige, leaving out the rest of the women's division in the process. Presumably with minimal ring time, Fox will get a shot at making WWE officials pay attention to her again.

Paige will be seeking the boost that comes with victory before she faces Nikki Bella at Money in the Bank.

That feud has featured little story so far. Thursday's SmackDown opens the door for WWE to change that—to involve Nikki somehow here and amp up the animosity.

If not, this looks to be just a warm-up bout for the No. 1 contender. That is, of course, unless Fox can buck expectations and pull off the upset.

Kane, Kofi Kingston and Sheamus vs. Neville, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns

Minus Ziggler, the entire Money in the Bank Ladder match field faces off in six-man tag team action.

It's not exactly inventive booking, but it points the spotlight on that signature match. Momentum is up for grabs before that contest. So is the chance to create subplots for it.

Orton and Sheamus have had a good amount of bad blood recently. Their battles have been far from technical wrestling displays; the foes have been brawling with bad intentions instead.

Fans will be curious whether that escalates during this meeting.

Kane and Reigns' issues go way back. WWE may choose to highlight those or churn up something new instead.

With Raw giving ample airtime to promote Owens vs. Cena and Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose, Thursday's SmackDown is set to give the Money in the Bank ladder match its due. What does the company have in store to try to sell folks on that bout and the pay-per-view overall?
