WWE Money in the Bank 2015 Matches: Updated Predictions for Each Match
The 2015 edition of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view has been built well, considering WWE only had two weeks to prepare, and the card should make for a very memorable show.
From the seven-man Money in the Bank ladder match for the briefcase to the anticipated rematch between NXT champion Kevin Owens and United States champion John Cena, this show has hit all the right chords with fans.
Add in Seth Rollins battling Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and this will be a can’t-miss PPV.
Here are the predicted outcomes for every match on the 2015 Money in the Bank card.
Roman Reigns Wins Money in the Bank Briefcase
1 of 7In what could be the most obvious Money in the Bank match in recent history, Roman Reigns has been the only man positioned as a legitimate contender to walk out of the PPV with the briefcase.
Both Sheamus and Randy Orton haven’t looked like serious threats to win the match, and Dolph Ziggler has been booked as an afterthought. As much as the fans love Neville, coming off a feud with Bo Dallas doesn’t exactly scream "next world champion."
Besides Reigns, the only other person positioned to have a chance to win would be Kane, and very few fans want to see that. While Kane and Seth Rollins have a history, giving the briefcase to Reigns is a better use of the honor.
If the fans don’t turn on Reigns when he wins the briefcase, expect WWE to ride with him as a top face before ultimately cashing in successfully.
John Cena Defeats Kevin Owens Via DQ
2 of 7Kevin Owens' victory over John Cena was one of the most unexpected outcomes in a long time, but it’s hard to imagine anyone earning two consecutive wins over the 15-time champion.
Instead, Owens should lose by disqualification when he goes too far attacking Cena. It would be the ideal ending to the bout and the perfect way to set the stage for the next two months.
The battle between the two champions has worked so well and deserves to culminate in a rubber match at SummerSlam. With Battleground throwing a wrench in the works, this is Owens’ chance to powerbomb Cena on the apron and put him out of action for the next PPV.
When Cena ultimately returns from his injury, he can focus his attention on gaining redemption against the dangerous Owens. This would be the perfect way to give Cena the series win—a necessary evil at WWE—while still making the challenger look strong.
Seth Rollins Defeats Dean Ambrose
3 of 7On the go-home episode of Raw, WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins lost to Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble, yet somehow the fans are now expected to be excited about this ladder match on Sunday.
There are few wrestling fans who don't believe the ladder match between Rollins and Ambrose will be incredible, but the ever-looming possibility of interference is present, even if J&J Security and Kane turn their backs on the champ.
If WWE simply gives these men 15-20 minutes to do their magic without any kind of outside interference, it could easily be the match of the night. Another dirty finish would ruin the match and further tarnish Rollins’ credibility.
Just give Rollins the clean win, WWE. Please.
Ryback Defeats Big Show
4 of 7Elimination Chamber featured several shocking wins, and it was a great moment when Ryback finally won a singles title by defeating Sheamus and four other men to earn the Intercontinental Championship.
If WWE wants Ryback to bring legitimacy back to the belt, a monumental victory over Big Show at Money in the Bank would be a good first step. Most fans dislike Big Show’s character, so Ryback would earn more respect by beating him.
Whether you like him or not, Ryback has embraced the championship win and has been an entertaining champion in the two weeks he’s held the belt. He deserves to destroy Big Show and continue looking strong.
The New Day Defeats the Prime Time Players
5 of 7The New Day has been very entertaining since debuting as a three-person team, and The Prime Time Players have been better than expected since their return. From an in-ring perspective, this should be an entertaining match.
Unfortunately, The Prime Time Players haven’t been built up enough to be considered real threats to the tag team titles, and The New Day should walk away victorious. The only hope for an interesting story would be post-match interference.
With Luke Harper and Erick Rowan running roughshod over the division, the hope is that they target the tag team straps at Money in the Bank and leave the show as the clear No. 1 contenders.
Nikki Bella Defeats Paige
6 of 7
As much as WWE wants to tell the fans that it cares about the Divas division, the company continues to provide little time and absolutely no storyline consistency for its women. Few fans care about Nikki Bella vs. Paige and that’s WWE’s fault.
Bella has shown improvement in the ring and is not as bad as many people think. On the other hand, Paige is very talented in the ring and the match should be entertaining if the company gives the women enough time.
As long as AJ Lee’s name is in the record books, Bella will hold the title.
King Barrett Defeats R-Truth
7 of 7
The Money in the Bank pre-show match is a battle of the jobbers, as King Barrett goes toe-to-toe with R-Truth. There was no build to this match; the two men have just pinned each other in meaningless situations.
The hope from fans was that the ultra-talented Barrett would use his King of the Ring win to elevate his career, but that hasn’t been the case. With R-Truth's comedy bit stealing the show at the go-home episode of Raw, there is no excitement for this bout.
Barrett should win, because he’s too talented for his current booking.
