Cloutier Getting A Tryout With The Wings
After being out of hockey for a year former New York Rangers 1994 first round pick goalie Dan Cloutier has been granted a tryout at the Detroit Red Wings training camp. Even though he hasn’t played since 2007/08 season when he appeared in only nine games for the Los Angeles Kings Cloutier who is 33 years-old believes that he can win a spot as a backup. This 10- year veteran who has spent time with the Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks and Kings has an overall record of 139-142-33 with a 2.77 GAA in 351 games.
Schremp Comes To Terms With Oilers On One-year Deal
The Edmonton Oilers locked up another of their young players as they signed 23 year-old Rob Schremp to a one- year deal. This former 2006 first team OHL London Knights all- star was originally Edmonton’s second pick and 25th overall. Last season this talented forward dressed for 69 games with the Oilers top farm team the Springfield Falcons where he produced seven goals and 42 points. This New York native played four games with the Oilers last season and made a solid impression with three points.
Eminger Becomes A Duck
The Anaheim Ducks have added some experience to their blue line with the signing of 25 year-old Steve Eminger. A veteran of 283 games played this former 2002 first round pick of the Washington Capitals played 71 games last season for the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers where he scored five goals and 26 points. In his career Eminger has registered 69 points and 271 penalty minutes. “Steve Eminger brings a physical presence to our blueline and is very capable offensively,” said Ducks Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Murray. “Being only 25 years-old, we expect him to continue improving as a player and make a solid contribution this season.”
