Pete D'Alessandro, Kings GM, Joins Nuggets Front Office
Pete D'Alessandro reportedly left his position as general manager of the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday to accept a position in the Denver Nuggets front office.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports broke the news. He also reported that the 46-year-old executive had another option on the table before choosing to reunite with the Nuggets:
"D'Alessandro had chance to become athletic director at alma mater, St. John's, but chose the reunion with Denver organization, sources said.

Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post provided further details about the move:
The Kings signaled they were starting to move in a new direction when they hired former player Vlade Divac to serve as the vice president of basketball and franchise operations in March. Since then, it's seemed like only a matter of time before D'Alessandro chose to move on.
Rather than accept the high-profile position at St. John's, his alma mater, he opted for a return to Denver. Before accepting the Sacramento job, he spent three years with the Nuggets, where he worked alongside Masai Ujiri, who's now with the Toronto Raptors.
The Nuggets already have a general manager in Tim Connelly. He's currently tasked with finding a new head coach. What type of role D'Alessandro may play in helping that search is unclear, as is the case for most of his duties.
His role should become clearer once he gets settled into the position. Whether that will mean working hand in hand with Connelly on personnel decisions or more of an oversight position is the biggest question that will need to be answered.
Clearly, the Nuggets thought he did well with the organization previously. Bringing him back is a low-risk move as they work to retool the roster and attempt to get into title contention.
