Full Scouting Report for San Antonio Spurs' Top 2015 Draft Targets

David KenyonJun 8, 2015

The San Antonio Spurs probably won't find a franchise-defining player in the 2015 NBA draft, though that doesn't mean the prospect pool lacks talent near the end of Round 1.

Although there is a distinct cloud of uncertainty hovering over the roster heading into the offseason, San Antonio holds the luxury of being able to select a player at any position. Granted, picking 26th overall often doesn't leave a team with a clear choice.

Consequent to American prospects starting to gain some traction—largely due to proximitya couple of draft-and-stash international talents have become more realistic options for the Spurs.

Of course, that doesn't mean the San Antonio front office has taken its eye off of a particular player who can contribute right away.

Cedi Osman

In his latest mock draft, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman has the Spurs selecting Macedonian swingman Cedi Osman at 26th overall. San Antonio would almost assuredly stash the 20-year-old Osman, considering he's far from an NBA-ready product.

According to RealGM, Osman tallied 7.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game throughout the 2014-15 campaign. He managed a decent 35.1 percent from long distance.

DraftExpress notes Osman sometimes shies away from contact at the rim, is a limited outside shooter, has ugly mechanics and is an average defender. Though his highlight video (seen above) displays a better stroke than anticipated, it's certainly not a picturesque form.

Osman has respectable ball-handling skills, a trait that shines when he's in transition. Overall, however, he needs to develop a more well-rounded offensive arsenal before making the jump to the NBA and filling a reserve role. San Antonio could eventually use him as a playmaker in the second unit.

But, again, he is just 20 years old. No matter which franchise takes him, immediate expectations must be tempered for the young Osman.

Delon Wright

Gary Parrish of CBS Sports mocked Utah point guard Delon Wright to the Spurs at No. 26, and that scenario should be welcomed by both the franchise and its fans.

The brother of 11-year NBA veteran Dorell Wright, he averaged 14.5 points, 5.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds last season. Wright helped guide Utah to an appearance in the Sweet 16.

A 6'5" point guard, he's not a sensational outside shooter; Wright connected on 35.6 percent of his three-point attempts last year. However, what he lacks on the perimeter, he makes up for as an aggressive ball-handler.

Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress says Wright's unorthodox style makes him difficult to defend:

"

From an athleticism standpoint, Wright is unique, as he is not particularly quick or explosive by traditional standards, but rather relies on a very herky-jerky style that helps keep defenders off balance. Wright plays at a variety of different speeds, changing directions frequently with slithery ball-handling moves and crafty footwork.

"

However, since he doesn't quite have an elite offensive skill set and is already 23 years old, Wright must have a clear strength. Fortunately, he does. He was a tenacious defender for the Utes and snatched 155 steals in 68 career games.

San Antonio could do worse than adding a defensive menace who can contribute immediately—and if Cory Joseph leaves in free agency, Wright would likely see regular minutes alongside Patty Mills, especially once Manu Ginobili retires.

Guillermo Hernangomez

The Spurs could look at any position in the first round, but they have one popular prospect. HoopsHype, NBADraft.net and Sam Vecenie of CBS Sports each list Spanish big man Guillermo Hernangomez as San Antonio's initial choice.

Standing 6'11", the center recorded 10.1 and 5.7 rebounds this season, per RealGM. The 21-year-old suited up for Baloncesto Sevilla and is a more traditional center, considering he won't dazzle anyone by stepping outside and drilling a three-pointer, let alone a mid-range jumper.

Nevertheless, despite Hernangomez's lack of shooting prowess, he's not afraid to face up on the blocks and shows superb touch at the basket. While his arsenal of post moves needs improvement, that will come with experience at the professional levelin either Europe or the States.

Hernangomez readily absorbs on defense but doesn't project as a terrific shot-blocker. According to RealGM, he posted a 1.96 block percentage last year.

In true Spurs-like fashion, the franchise could stash Hernangomez overseas, then bring him over whenever Tim Duncan actually retires or if Aron Baynes signs elsewhere.
