WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for June 8

Ryan DilbertJun 8, 2015

The climb to Money in the Bank is already almost over; the June 8 edition of WWE Raw serves as the home stretch for the pay-per-view.

With Elimination Chamber just barely in the rearview mirror, WWE looks to get fans hyped about a new set of battles. En route to Sunday's show, Dean Ambrose will try to further madden Seth Rollins, John Cena will have something to say to Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler has a most alluring distraction potentially pulling his focus away from the Money in the Bank ladder match.

The Smoothie King Center in New Orleans hosts the go-home Raw.

It's not certain which new matches fans can expect for Money in the Bank. Backstage reports and James Wortman's Five-Point Preview on WWE.com offer help in that department, aiding fans in seeing what is likely to unfold on Monday's Raw.

News, Potential Spoilers

Cesaro will have to go it alone if he competes on Monday's Raw. His partner, Tyson Kidd, is on the mend.

WWE announced on its official website, "Kidd sustained an injury while competing in a non-televised match against Samoa Joe."

Cesaro, Natalya and Tyson Kidd

The statement offered no details about what kind of injury this was or when he would be able to return. However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestleZone's Nick Paglino) reports that it may be a spinal injury.

Kidd being out of action could have been why WWE chose to have The Prime Time Players get a crack at the tag titles rather than have Kidd and Cesaro battle The New Day again. As for the Intercontinental Championship, it looks as if Ryback will have two challengers trying to dethrone him.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlingInc's Marc Middleton), WWE plans to have The Miz and Big Show take on Ryback in a Triple Threat match at Money in the Bank.

That would explain the confrontation featuring all three men on last week's Raw. The Miz had his title match cut short when Big Show knocked him out cold and called out The Big Guy.

If WWE keeps heading down this path, look for the three wrestlers to collide in New Orleans as well. The company has little time to set this match, so things will have to move along quickly.

The IC champ is only man of that trio to be on the bill. James Caldwell of PWTorch notes that in addition to Ryback, the Superstars advertised to appear include Rollins, Ambrose, Cena, Owens, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Kane, Ziggler and The New Day.

Selling Money in the Bank

Count on the Lana-Ziggler romance to blossom on air. WWE is going full throttle with that storyline, featuring it often.

On last Thursday's SmackDown, The Showoff came to the aid of Rusev's former manager. With their arms locked, the two left the ring together as an angry Rusev stewed.

The focus on them appears to be continuing, judging by the coverage their relationship garnered in the Five-Point Preview. In that article, Wortman writes of Ziggler and Lana, "Hopefully, we'll learn more about this apparent coupling on Raw."

Monday's Raw is also set to feature Paige's ongoing rivalry with Nikki and Brie Bella. In an interview on last week's SmackDown, Paige spoke about wanting to implement change in the women's division.

It wasn't clear what she meant by that, but it looks as if fans will get a better idea of what Paige is thinking by the end of Monday's Raw. Wortman hints at that when he asks, "Will we see Paige begin to institute this 'change' on Raw?"

There is no Divas Championship match for Money in the Bank as of yet. The expectation is that Paige takes on Nikki, unless Brie is somehow added to the mix.

One of the event's biggest matches pits Cena against Kevin Owens. Expect that bout to get plenty of attention on Monday night.

Cena is set to fire back at his foe's trash talk. On Thursday's SmackDown, he mocked Cena's open challenge and promised to beat him a second time. This came after claiming that Cena corrupts kids' minds.

It's now Cena's turn to respond. Wortman writes, "What will Cena say—or do—in response to Owens' scathing criticisms?"

For the buildup to the Money in the Bank main event, the WWE title promises to be at the center of the narrative. Ambrose still holds the title hostage, but Rollins will no doubt attempt to snatch it back.

Wortman wonders, "Will Rollins get his hands on his prize before Money in the Bank, or will Ambrose continue this high-stakes game of Keep Away?"

Rollins in the hunt for the stolen title is more interesting than him getting it back, so bet on the latter option playing out. The champ retrieving his championship is a climax WWE will want to save for Money in the Bank.

In the meantime, look for the Money in the Bank card to fill out and for Monday's Raw to inject more animosity into the event's marquee matches.
