Odegaard Open to Loan Amid Celtic Rumours

Monday, July 13

"A loan is still relevant," Odegaard's agent Tore Pedersen told TV2 (h/t Jacob Murtagh of the Daily Mirror), despite the player travelling with Real Madrid on their pre-season tour.

The news will come as a relief to Celtic, who are hoping to bring Odegaard to Glasgow on a temporary deal next season, according to Italian website Tutto Mercato Web (h/t Eurosport).

The Scottish club are believed to be ahead of a number of European clubs in the chase to land Odegaard. Pete Jenson of the Daily Mail reported on July 2 Getafe president Angel Torres met with Madrid to discuss how a loan might work.

Odegaard broke a Madrid club record when he made his debut as a substitute on the final day of the season, becoming the youngest player in club history, per theScore FC.

However, it has not been the easiest of starts to Odegaard's career at the Bernabeu. He has struggled to settle in with Madrid's reserve side, Castilla, in Segunda B, per FourFourTwo's Thore Haugstad

A temporary move to another club seems like a sensible idea, as he will gain experience and have more first-team game time. He is still remarkably young and would likely benefit from a spell away from the scrutiny at Madrid.
