WWE Superstar Power Rankings for 6/8/2015: Pre-Money in the Bank 2015 Edition
WWE Money in the Bank 2015 is on the horizon, and there have been quite a few changes in the WWE Superstar Power Rankings. So far, it appears only half the card is set for Money in the Bank, with four matches booked.
United States champion John Cena will face NXT champion Kevin Owens in a non-title match. The New Day will defend their WWE Tag team Championships against the Prime Time Players. Dolph Ziggler, Neville, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus and Kane will all face off in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. And finally, Seth Rollins will once again defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Dean Ambrose.
As a reminder to those who may have missed the last edition of these rankings, Kevin Owens is ineligible. He is still officially part of the NXT roster and is not yet listed on the WWE roster. In order to be eligible for consideration, Owens needs to officially be on the WWE Roster, and WWE's roster page is the standard by which that is judged.
This past week's action will be discussed in greater detail throughout the following slides. But beforehand, please read how these rankings are determined.
These rankings are not a popularity contest and are not designed to determine who has the best matches or the most ability. These rankings are strictly in-storyline power rankings.
All active WWE Superstars and Divas on the main roster are considered, excluding talents who primarily or exclusively wrestle in NXT. Holding a championship, being a No. 1 contender or holding a Money in the Bank briefcase counts for much of a wrestler's ranking, and these honors are therefore the most heavily weighted components in the rankings.
If a wrestler is deemed to be tied with another, holding a title will be the primary tiebreaker. However, holding a championship, being a No. 1 contender or holding a Money in the Bank briefcase in no way guarantees a spot in the top 10.
Wins and losses account for the bulk of the week-to-week movement and, after championships, are the most important components of the rankings. The quality and rank of a wrestler's opponents are considered in the week-to-week movement.
Getting the better of someone—such as beating someone down—also counts, though not nearly as much as wins and losses. Being over with the fans (i.e., getting a strong reaction) is not heavily weighted in the ranking decisions; it is effectively the last tiebreaker. Pay-per-view wins and losses take on added importance.
Only the top 10 wrestlers are ranked. Wrestlers on the "Watch List" were considered for top-10 status but were ultimately nixed. They are unranked, and their listing is in no particular order.
Generally speaking, these rankings do not break kayfabe. However, any major non-storyline information—serious injury, WWE Wellness Policy violations, suspensions, legitimate hirings, firings, contract information and "sabbaticals"—may be taken into consideration, but generally, it's only if WWE confirms or addresses it publicly.
WWE's non-televised domestic and international live events are not included in these rankings unless WWE incorporates them into television storylines or acknowledges the event on WWE television. Also, nothing that could be explicitly considered a spoiler is included unless WWE acknowledges it as well.
In short, all WWE main-roster shows—televised or digitally distributed, as well as anything from WWE.com, the WWE App, the WWE Network and any WWE or Superstar accounts on social media that don't break kayfabe—may be taken into consideration.
These may include but are not limited to WWE Raw, WWE SmackDown, WWE Main Event, WWE Superstars, NXT, WWE pay-per-views and any storyline-driven content from the WWE Network.
Watch List
1 of 11Sheamus
Sheamus drops out of the top 10 this week after taking a loss to a returning Randy Orton via disqualification. Later in the week, he faced Roman Reigns on SmackDown, but that match was thrown out as the Authority interfered. He'll get his shot at redemption on Sunday, though, when he seeks to win a Money in the Bank contract.
Prime Time Players
The Prime Time Players are on a roll. They teamed with Dolph Ziggler in a winning effort against the New Day on Raw and defeated the Ascension and Los Matadores in a Triple Threat Tag Team match on SmackDown. Titus O'Neil and Darren Young are now officially the No. 1 Contenders to the New Day's tag team titles, and they will get their shot at Money in the Bank. Can they win the titles for the first time?
No. 10: Randy Orton
2 of 11Previous Rank: Unranked
Movement: Outta Nowhere!
Randy Orton returned to WWE TV on Raw, facing off against Sheamus. He picked up a DQ win when Sheamus kept throwing him into ringside barricades. It wasn't the greatest way to return, but Orton got a win over a then-ranked opponent.
He has a chance to become Mr. Money in the Bank on Sunday when he faces six other men in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. Can Orton win the briefcase for the second time in his career?
No. 9: Nikki Bella
3 of 11Previous Rank: 10
Movement: Up 1
WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella used a little "twin magic" to keep her title reign going in the latest round of WWE programming. On Raw, she faced Paige one-on-one for the Divas Championship, and Paige was proving to be a handful. With the referee distracted, Nikki and her sister Brie swapped places, and Brie rolled up Paige for the win.
Technically, Nikki successfully defended her title. However, for obvious reasons, Paige is upset. While nothing has been announced, there's a good chance Paige will get a rematch at Money in the Bank. If that happens, can Nikki Bella retain her title?
No. 8: Dolph Ziggler w/ Lana
4 of 11Previous Rank: 9
Movement: Up 1
Dolph Ziggler had a good week, and it earned him a one-spot bump in the rankings. On Raw, he defeated Kofi Kingston in singles action, and then an impromptu Six-Man Tag Team match broke out immediately afterward when New Day beat him down and the Prime Time Players came out to make the save.
Ziggler and the Prime Time Players won that match as well. Ziggler then defeated Adam Rose on Main Event. On SmackDown, he came to Lana's aide when Rusev was losing his cool with her on Miz TV, and he and Lana left together.
Ziggler now gets a shot at holding a Money in the Bank briefcase for the second time in his career. Can he win the Ladder match on Sunday?
No. 7: Neville
5 of 11Previous Rank: 7
Movement: None
Neville had a solid week, picking up two wins and maintaining his place in the rankings. On Raw, he faced Bo Dallas, whom he had defeated the night before at Elimination Chamber. Neville won the match. On SmackDown, the Man Gravity Forgot faced Kofi Kingston and won via a rollup pinfall, much to the chagrin of the New Day.
Neville now heads into Money in the Bank with a chance to win the Money In the Bank contract. Can the high-flier win the match and guarantee himself a WWE World Heavyweight Championship opportunity?
No. 6: The New Day
6 of 11Previous Rank: 4
Movement: Down 2
The New Day had a bad week, to say the least. Kofi Kingston lost to Dolph Ziggler on Raw, and then when a Six-Man tag team match broke out, which saw New Day face Ziggler and the Prime Time Players, they lost that match too. On SmackDown, Neville defeated Kofi Kingston.
At Money in the Bank, the New Day can make up for these losses. Kofi Kingston will be in the official Money in the Bank Ladder match, while Xavier Woods and Big E defend the WWE Tag team Championships against the Prime Time Players. Will they be successful?
No. 5: John Cena
7 of 11Previous Rank: 5
Movement: None
John Cena had no matches this week, so he holds steady at No. 5 in the rankings. He did spar verbally with Kevin Owens, who called him a fraud.
Cena, ever the fighter, argued that he and his persona are no joke. He's for real, and his bringing a young cancer sufferer with an inspiring sign into the ring attests to this.
But Cena has to keep his head in the ring if he hopes to defeat Kevin Owens. Owens defeated Cena at Elimination Chamber, and if Cena isn't focused, he could fall again to the NXT champion. Will Cena even the score with Owens at Money in the Bank?
No. 4: Ryback
8 of 11Previous Rank: 6
Movement: Up 2
WWE Intercontinental champion Ryback may not have to wait long to receive a serious test of his nascent title reign. On Raw, he was set to face the Miz in a title match, his first since winning the title at Elimination Chamber. Instead, Big Show returned to WWE and made sure that match never got started
Big Show took out Miz, and threatened Ryback before vowing to beat Ryback in a match. Ryback had more luck on Smackdown, scoring a quick victory over Stardust.
Ryback is not yet announced for a match at Money in the Bank, but it's likely he'll be in one. Will he face Big Show? Someone else? Or will he defend his newly won title in a multi-Superstar Ladder match?
No. 3: Dean Ambrose
9 of 11Previous Rank: 2
Movement: Down 1
With no matches this past week, Dean Ambrose drops one spot in the rankings. As the video above demonstrates, Dean Ambrose stole the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt at Elimination Chamber because he feels he's the rightful champion. Triple H wanted him to deliver the title to Rollins on Raw.
That didn't happen. Roman Reigns came out instead, and on Ambrose's behalf, he demanded a rematch. Rollins was mad enough to accept. Later that night, Roman Reigns was about to take a beating from the Authority when Ambrose appeared to make the save.
Ambrose took out Rollins and left the arena with Reigns, taunting Triple H and Stephanie McMahon with the title belt. Ambrose has the belt, but he's not the champion. Can he make it official on Sunday at Money in the Bank?
No. 2: Roman Reigns
10 of 11Previous Rank: 3
Movement: Up 1
Roman Reigns had one heck of a week. On Raw, he was put through a gauntlet—not literally a gauntlet match, mind you—when he was forced to face King Barrett, Mark Henry, and then Bray Wyatt at various points in the night. Reigns won all three matches, and he and Ambrose humiliated the Authority at the end of the night.
On SmackDown, he faced Sheamus, but the match ended in a no contest as the Authority interfered and Kane took out both Reigns and Sheamus. After the attack, Kane announced he would be the seventh and final Superstar to participate in the Money in the Bank Ladder match.
Can Reigns capture the Money in the Bank contract and guarantee himself a WWE World Heavyweight Championship opportunity?
No. 1: Seth Rollins
11 of 11Previous Rank: 1
Movement: None
WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins had a down week, competing in no matches and constantly falling prey to Dean Ambrose's tactics. On Raw, he accepted a rematch with Ambrose for the title at Money in the Bank, and at the end of the show, he took a Dirty Deeds from Ambrose as the Authority was left frustrated by Ambrose and Roman Reigns.
Then on SmackDown, He and Ambrose traded promos about the upcoming title match. Later in the show, Rollins and the Authority tried attacking Roman Reigns, but like Raw, Dean Ambrose came out to Reigns' aid. Rollins was again hit with Dirty Deeds, and to add insult to injury, he also took a Superman Punch from Reigns.
Rollins heads into Money in the Bank with his WWE World Heavyweight Championship literally hanging in the balance in a Ladder match. Can Rollins keep his title and regain possession of the belt itself?
