Dolph Ziggler, Lana, Kevin Owens and More from Money in the Mailbag

Alfred KonuwaJun 4, 2015

Don't look now, but both Kevin Owens and NXT are getting too hot to handle. Following a career win over John Cena, many feel Owens makes perfect sense as a Money in the Bank participant. On the PodNasty Wrestling Podcast, Owens himself expressed interest in competing in Money in the Bank.

With the NXT Championship as meaningful as it has ever been, perhaps WWE should consider turning development into opportunity.

Question of the Week: NXT in Line?

"

@ThisIsNasty do you think WWE should go to having the NXT champ getting an automatic spot in Money in the Bank?

— Tom Johnson (@tjohn224) June 1, 2015"

Absolutely. WWE has done a good job building Money in the Bank into a credible accolade, but picking the field has always been sketchy. WWE is succeeding by slowly integrating NXT talent onto the main roster, a la Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, rather than simply calling it up.

Giving the NXT champion a shot at Money in the Bank would be yet another example of integration while cross-promoting the brands without it seeming forced. In fact, Owens is the most deserving of a spot in the Money in the Bank match, and this is a more natural direction than an instant rematch against Cena.

With the right guy, a NXT champion winning Money in the Bank would virtually force fans to take its weekly television show just as seriously as Raw.

Follow the Brother?

"

@ThisIsNasty is there any other possible way for Bo Dallas to thrive other than joining his brother in a re-vamped Wyatt family?

— Antwon C. (@11Antwon) June 2, 2015"

WWE is making Bo Dallas more serious, which could work, but there was nothing wrong with Dallas upon his debut. The New Day got over doing exactly what Dallas was doing. Currently, Dallas can safely be considered a wasted opportunity. WWE should have kept his win streak going for as long as possible.

I think it's too early for Dallas and Wyatt to come together. Both need to establish themselves as relevant singles stars for that alliance to reach its potential. Wyatt has done so for the most part, but Dallas still has some work to do.

Dallas could be a good future opponent against Ryback in the intercontinental title division, as motivation drives them both. Who's ready for The Secret on a pole match?

While I'm not averse to a more serious character, hopefully they don't completely go away from his motivational gimmick. Dallas has to start winning his matches so his promos can mean something again.

Dolph Ziggler: Lana's Crush?

"

@ThisIsNasty Q&A: With this Ziggler storyline, do you honestly think that Lana is going to be a long term success?

— Melanie Gomes (@Melitxix) June 3, 2015"

Not alongside Ziggler. After stealing the show as the focal point of last week's Raw, Lana was just eye candy as she watched Ziggler wrestle from afar. He didn't even let her walk to the ring with him.

WWE needs to end its Lana-Ziggler experiment as soon as possible. She's becoming more of a caricature by the second. She also loses her edge by going from fierce diplomat to googly-eyed valet.

The alliance isn't exactly helping Ziggler's career, either. Ziggler's certainly a fan favorite, but after dropping Lana off at the entrance ramp and going to work, fans chose to chant, "We want Lana." Rusev's promo seemed to hint that he may have designs to get Lana back. For the sake of all three characters, let's all hope so.

One World...Championship?

"

@ThisIsNasty what your opinion on bringing some titles back? there are too many top stars just for 1 big title, WHC needs to come back

— Alex Carvalho (@alexshakur2711) June 3, 2015"

WWE has enough titles. In fact, if Ryback isn't able to at least add life to the Intercontinental Championship, it might want to consolidate the secondary titles.

The one downfall of having one world title is it exposes midcard talents who are now stuck in a never-ending cycle of meaningless repetitive matches and feuds. But this should just give WWE incentive to make its secondary titles more meaningful.

Even the NXT title has been presented as more credible than the United States Championship through Owens' recent success. If WWE focuses on making all of its current championships meaningful, there will be no demand for additional titles.
