Best Booking Options for John Cena vs. Kevin Owens at WWE Money in the Bank 2015

Donald WoodJun 4, 2015

The highlight of Elimination Chamber was the champion vs. champion battle between John Cena and Kevin Owens, and WWE's hope is that it can strike gold twice when the two men square off again at the 2015 edition of Money in the Bank on June 14.

There were few wrestling fans who believed Owens would collect the clean win over the 15-time world champion, but Cena put over the main-roster rookie. Now, the two men square off again with the WWE Universe expecting greatness.

Here are the best booking options for the rematch between Cena and Owens at Money in the Bank.

John Cena Wins by Disqualification

The likeliest outcome of the Money in the Bank match is Cena winning by disqualification when Owens can’t be controlled and tears the face of the company apart, forcing the ref to throw the match out.

After watching WWE for many years, the protection of Cena is not a joke. Losing to Owens was a monumental moment, but asking for back-to-back victories for Owens is not feasible. Just because it’s the right way to book a feud doesn’t mean Vince McMahon will agree.

The WWE Universe should be hoping for a great match between the two men, but Owens should get frustrated at his inability to pin the champion, resulting in the NXT champion losing control and trying to hurt Cena.

With Owens calling Cena a virus, getting himself DQ’d while trying to eradicate WWE of his presence would work in the story and result in at least one more pay-per-view battle between the two men.

Kevin Owens Wins Cleanly…Again

It’s hard to believe and even imagine, but follow me: What if WWE officials truly see Owens as a top star moving forward and want to cement him as such by beating Cena cleanly for the second PPV in a row?

The focus of Elimination Chamber was on the cage matches, and the same can be said for Money in the Bank with the battle for the briefcase. While it would be monumental to the fans, Cena taking back-to-back losses could be easier to sell on secondary PPVs where he isn’t main-eventing.

Owens having Cena’s number and becoming a true heel challenger is something WWE never does properly. With Owens possibly winning cleanly again and not allowing Cena to have a third match in the series, the company would be planting the seeds for an overarching storyline.

It’s hard to give WWE Creative this much credit, but with proper booking and storytelling, Owens vs. Cena is a feud that could span throughout the remainder of the face of the franchise’s career.
