WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for June 4

Erik BeastonJun 2, 2015

On Monday night, Dean Ambrose again left Seth Rollins and The Authority furious over his refusal to return the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to The Architect. That continued again Tuesday night as the Lunatic Fringe and the rest of the WWE Superstars rolled into Houston for this week's SmackDown tapings.

Not only was the focus on Ambrose's impending ladder match with Rollins but the actual Money in the Bank match was heavily featured, with some of the Superstars involved in the pay-per-view contest squaring off in singles competition.

Kevin Owens put his NXT Championship on the line in an open challenge. After his victory over John Cena at Elimination Chamber, though, who would be silly enough to step inside the squared circle with the most dominant star in the company?

Analysis

SmackDown is typically the more wrestling-heavy show of WWE's two premiere broadcasts so to see so much time devoted to talking is disappointing. Monday night's show was talk-heavy but actually featured some solid in-ring action involving Roman Reigns.

Reigns' match with Sheamus Thursday appears, on paper, to have a ton of potential to be outstanding but the disqualification finish involving Kane puts a damper on it. In fact, Kane interfering in main events is becoming a running joke across the Internet, and for good reason. It happens far too often and really hurts the flow of some superb wrestling matches.

Kevin Owens' in-ring debut on SmackDown should be something special but the choice of Zack Ryder to challenge him for the NXT Championship is questionable at best, especially since WWE Creative is suddenly asking us to take Long Island Iced Z seriously after years of jobbing him out to everyone from John Cena to Adam Rose.

The interactions between Lana, Rusev and Dolph Ziggler could make for some quality television but is hardly anything to go out of your way to watch.

Thursday nights are typically destination television for fans looking for a nice change of pace from the three-hour bore fests that Raw typically descends into. This week's show, though, looks like a skippable show, with nothing of note occurring and a major lack of in-ring competition significantly hurting it.
