Brendan Rodgers to Remain Liverpool Manager: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
Brendan Rodgers will keep his place as manager of Liverpool, even after a mediocre third season in charge. Despite slipping from second to sixth in the Premier League, along with finishing without silverware, Rodgers has earned a reprieve.
It came after the beleaguered gaffer met with club chairman Tom Werner, according to BBC Sport reporter Ben Smith on Tuesday:

The demand for improvements makes sense after Liverpool collapsed following the sale of star striker Luis Suarez last summer. Though few teams would avoid skipping a beat after letting a player as talented as Suarez go, Rodgers' squad endured some nightmare moments this season.
Andy Hunter of the Guardian detailed the catalogue of horrors: "The 42-year-old had been under pressure after a dismal end to last season that culminated in a 6-1 defeat at Stoke City, Liverpool’s heaviest defeat in 52 years, no silverware for the third year of his reign and failure to qualify for the Champions League despite a £117m investment in new players last summer."
Rodgers relied on young players, but too many of his signings flopped. In particular, centre-back Dejan Lovren and strikers Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert rated as major disappointments.

Yet there's obviously still a belief Rodgers can get Liverpool back among the elite of European football. He'll certainly have to do better in the transfer market this summer.
His squad needs a marquee centre-forward, a natural holding midfielder and at least two defenders.
The board clearly believe Rodgers can still deliver, but Liverpool Echo writer James Pearce believes the Anfield fans may remain sceptical:
Early, quality signings will be the best way for Rodgers to restore confidence in his tenure ahead of a critical season for both the club and manager.
