WWE Elimination Chamber 2015: Re-Booking Full Card from PPV

Aaron BowerJun 2, 2015

Although the two matches inside the structure weren't the standout bouts of the evening, WWE's Elimination Chamber provided excitement and entertainment throughout.

As seems to be the case with the WWE Network exclusive shows, there were more twists and swerves than on a regular pay-per-view, and there was plenty to keep fans on their toes.

But there were moments throughout the show which could have been booked a lot better, and it's important to revisit those moments and examine where the WWE could have improved things a touch.

Let's go through the entire card at Elimination Chamber and re-book it, seeing where and when things could have been done better.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match

1 of 6

The opening match of the night could have been one of the more spectacular, but a lack of chemistry meant that the tag titles match never really got going inside Elimination Chamber.

You could have potentially had one of the more compelling and exciting teams in the match, like The New Day or Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, come in earlier or even start things out here.

Things were a little labored during the early exchanges in truth, and some star power being introduced a lot earlier would have made a real difference.

If we're re-booking the events leading up to the match too, it would have surely been a smart move to have Erick Rowan and Luke Harper involved, probably over someone like Los Matadores.

They're a strong, interesting team who would have had a real presence in a match like this, whereas Los Matadores didn't really bring much to the table.

Nikki Bella vs. Paige vs. Naomi

2 of 6

Yet again, the Divas Championship match on a major WWE show seemed to pass by without any real points of note.

The events that transpired on Raw with The Bella Twins turning heel yet again make the uneventful match we saw at Elimination Chamber more confusing.

There may be calls for Nikki to have dropped the belt on Sunday, and Paige would have certainly been a worthy replacement as champion, as would Naomi.

But given how The Bellas are heel once again, the most obvious piece of re-booking would have been to exact the turn during Elimination Chamber.

Forget banning Tamina and Brie Bella from ringside, have them both there and have the "Twin Magic" take place on a bigger stage than Raw.

It would have certainly helped to pile the heat on them for Raw the following night.

Kevin Owens vs. John Cena

3 of 6

Sometimes there are matches you just can't re-book, and Kevin Owens vs. John Cena is one of them.

It was booked to perfection in the lead-up, with many expecting Owens' dominance on a couple of editions of Raw leading to an inevitable Cena victory here.

But the WWE wisely used their star man to put over a fresh talent cleanly, and it leaves Owens in a quite incredible position going forward.

The match itself was great in that it had Owens on the front foot all the way through more or less, and the clean victory illustrates WWE's faith in the NXT Champion.

All in all, there's not much you could have re-booked here.

Neville vs. Bo Dallas

4 of 6

This could be a feud that has potential moving forward, although Neville's involvement in the Money in the Bank ladder match could put paid to that.

Given how it followed perhaps the match of the night in Kevin Owens vs. John Cena, it might have been shrewder to have this bout earlier on the night, perhaps even as the opener.

The fact it followed such a great match meant it was effectively a cooldown bout, and Neville is certainly better than that.

It could have also benefitted from a fraction more time on TV, as The New Sensation had one of his lesser-enjoyable matches here.

Nobody could argue with the result though, as Neville continued his impressive run of form to move towards Money in the Bank with good momentum.

Intercontinental Championship Elimination Chamber Match

5 of 6

Of all six matches on the card at Elimination Chamber, the Intercontinental Championship match was by far the biggest letdown of the evening.

It suffered from a horrendous lack of pace and energy from most of the stars involved. Mark Henry's unannounced involvement did little to improve that, and there was a horrific lack of chemistry throughout.

If we're looking at re-booking aspects of the match, then it would have been nice to see the Chamber itself get more usage as a weapon.

The tag titles match had stars dangling off the top of the structure, and it had guys like Big E and Titus O'Neil hurling other stars into it. There was precious little of that there, and it made the structure almost feel irrelevant.

There's no issue with Ryback winning, but he rarely felt like a credible challenger until just before he hit Sheamus with the telling move to close out the win.

Ryback would have been much better given a more prominent role in the match.

Finally, why on Earth was King Barrett first to be eliminated? Since winning the King of the Ring he's been on a horrific losing run. If you're re-booking the match efficiently and effectively, have Barrett go a lot closer to the end.

He didn't need to win, but he certainly needed to go a lot closer than being pinned by R-Truth first up.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose

6 of 6

The biggest stumbling block the WWE World Heavyweight Championship has against it is the questionable finish.

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose always deliver in the ring. That much you just can't deny.

But a lack of clarity and plenty of confusion over the finish left it all being a bit muddled. Why not have a conclusive finish, especially with these two guys going at it again in two weeks?

The best winner would have undoubtedly been Dean Ambrose. The sight of him with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in his possession was phenomenal, and the reaction from the crowd when they thought he'd won told its own story.

Ambrose could have dropped the strap at Money in the Bank before Brock Lesnar returns in time to confront Seth Rollins, and a win here would have done wonders for him.

What this finish does do is keep things fresh and interesting in terms of Ambrose stealing what he believes is rightfully his, but a better ending would have been a clean Ambrose win.
