San Diego Marathon 2015 Results: Men and Women's Top Rock 'n' Roll Finishers
The 2015 San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, an ever-growing, weekend-long event, saw Igor Campos and Lenore Moreno cross the finish line first in the men and women's divisions respectively.
With more than 30,000 people in attendance over the course of the event and top talent from around the world taking to the scenic view, including tours through downtown, Hillcrest, University Heights and more, it was a weekend to remember.
Here are the top finishers from Sunday's spectacle:
| 1 | Igor Campos | 02:37:02 | Lenore Moreno | 02:41:39 |
| 2 | Chris Collins | 02:39:17 | Zoila Gomez | 02:48:02 |
| 3 | Boone Ebel | 02:41:56 | Susan Smith | 02:58:15 |
| 4 | Stephen Johnson | 02:45:56 | Kendall Bruton | 03:05:09 |
| 5 | Nikolai Shalygin | 02:46:36 | Lan Clayton | 03:06:06 |
One of the day's biggest storylines didn't even come in the full marathon, either, but it is very much worth a look.
Meb Keflezighi, a household name thanks to his triumph in the 2014 Boston Marathon, claimed second place in the half marathon on Sunday behind Jordan Chipangama, per Competitor.com.
While not the desired end result, Keflezighi seemed quite thrilled just to be back in his hometown before the race, as he told Ken Stone of the Times of San Diego: "I am looking forward to my first competition as a masters athlete and know I am very fortunate to run my first masters race in my hometown of San Diego."
As for the main event itself, warm, breezy weather and an outpouring of support from the community made for a competitive race.
The marathon's Twitter account captured the starting line:
Photographer K.C. Alfred brought the image to life with a smooth time capture of the opening gun:
A hotbed for anyone and everyone to join in the fun, even firefighters in full gear got involved, as observer Chris Dotseth captured:
The 31-year-old Campos maintained an impressive six-minute pace and finished more than two minutes ahead of the competition.
Moreno was perhaps the most impressive competitor of all. Her consistent pace of 6:16 helped her best the next-best finisher by more than five minutes. Zoila Gomez, who finished second, pulled almost 10 minutes ahead of the rest of the pack.
In short, the massive event will only continue to grow. The route scenic, the community strong and weather favorable, there's little reason to believe next year's final numbers won't blossom.
For competitors such as Keflezighi, it's on to the next big race as marathon season only continues to heat up heading into the summer. For everyone else, it's clear the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon is one to put on the bucket list.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story reported that second-place finisher Chris Collins had won the men's marathon due to an error with the live tracker. We regret the error.
