WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from May 25

Erik BeastonMay 26, 2015

When Kevin Owens stepped through the curtain for the first time, making his debut for NXT late in 2014, few could have imagined the effect he would have on WWE programming just six months later.

The current NXT champion is easily the most well-booked Superstar on the entire roster, dominating and hurting every opponent unlucky enough to set foot inside the squared circle with him. At Elimination Chamber, he has the opportunity to claim his highest-profile victim to date when he battles United States champion John Cena one-on-one.

Monday night, the unpredictable Owens attacked the franchise player of WWE, leaving the leader of the Cenation lying and standing over him, the NXT overhead and the U.S. title under his foot.

For the second time, WWE Creative had enough faith and trust in Owens to carry his end of the deal that the writers had him leave the most recognizable star in the industry lying following his trademark pop-up powerbomb finisher.

That the fans reacted as favorably as they did to the attack by Owens indicates that the character will not only translate well from NXT to the main roster—it will thrive on Monday and Thursday nights.

Just six days away from his first opportunity to wow fans on a WWE pay-per-view broadcast, Owens was the biggest winner on the May 25 episode of Raw.

Who joined him and which Superstars failed to make an impression as they gear up to enter the hell that is the Elimination Chamber?

Find out now with this look at the biggest winners and losers from Monday night's broadcast.

Winner: Rusev

No one has improved more from his debut to this point than Rusev.

From his in-ring work to his promos—and, most recently, his facial expressions and body language—the Bulgarian Brute has developed into a complete performer, as evidenced by what fans witnessed Monday night during his promo time with Lana.

In one 10-minute promo, he displayed desperation, sadness, frustration and anger as Lana walked out on him and kissed Dolph Ziggler for the third time in two weeks.

The concern for the Rusev character in the wake of three straight losses to John Cena and his split from Lana is legitimate. But as long as he can continue proving himself as a performer as well as a wrestler, there will always be room for the super-athlete somewhere of relevance in WWE.

Loser: Tamina

In 2012, Tamina earned critical acclaim for her work with Beth Phoenix, and for the first time, it looked like she was on her way to achieving great things in WWE.

Fast forward three years and a few injuries later, and the daughter of Jimmy Snuka is a shell of the performer she once was.

Monday night, she looked completely out of place as she battled Paige in singles competition. The match was slow, disjointed and Tamina never looked like she should be doing any more than providing distractions and getting cheap heat at ringside.

It was the second consecutive time that she appeared out of place, the other coming at Payback.

While she has been effective as a bodyguard for both Naomi and AJ Lee, perhaps it is time to consider the fact that Tamina is better off left at ringside than inside the squared circle at this point in her career.

Loser: R-Truth

R-Truth has achieved so little over the last year that it is always a surprise when he is entered into a high-profile match in which a championship is at stake. He spends most of his time as a jobber to the stars, so the idea that he is in title contention is always a bit comical.

Not even WWE Creative attempted to convince fans that he had a snowball's chance in hell of winning the intercontinental title this weekend, as he was thoroughly demolished by Rusev in less than two minutes.

Now, Truth enters a match involving some of the most celebrated midcard acts in the company a sitting duck, with no chance of leaving victorious.

And the company wonders why fans will never, ever take him seriously as a threat to any championship or prestigious honor again.

Winner: Bo Dallas

After suffering a foot injury and disappearing from television screens late in 2014, Bo Dallas returned to WWE and wallowed away in his own irrelevancy. He suffered beatings at the hands of higher-profile competitors and did little of note until crossing paths with fellow NXT alumnus Neville just a few short weeks ago.

Since then, they have been on a collision course and, as fans found out Monday night, will meet at Elimination Chamber in one-on-one competition.

While Neville has been on a roll as of late, the pay-per-view match is a huge opportunity for Dallas to regain much of the momentum he lost last year. It is highly unlikely he walks away victoriously, but a strong performance could help catch the eye of management and restore some of the good will he had built up with WWE executives prior to the foot injury that sidelined him.

Winner: Lana

The Ravishing Russian has been absolutely phenomenal in recent weeks, playing the role of sympathetic Diva to Rusev's overwhelming, controlling associate. Monday night, she turned the tables, proving she can be a strong woman who does not need a man to tell her what to do or how to be.

The best actor/actress on the roster by far, she showed great conviction and confidence in her performance as she stood up for herself, then confidently walked away from a furious Rusev.

Confirmation of her effectiveness in the role came via the thunderous ovation she received from the crowd.

And do not forget the little things Lana did early in the segment to suggest that she was independent of her former charge, such as refusing to enter the ring through the ropes he held open for her, opting to step through on her own instead.

While the onscreen pairing with Dolph Ziggler has split the audience, there is no denying that Lana can (and should) be a breakout star by the time SummerSlam arrives if WWE Creative allows her to be.
