The fantasy football season is fast approaching, and for all of you that haven't drafted your 12-team PPR league squad, this mock draft is for you.
Below I have a link to our mock drafts for point-per-reception league play from July and August. If you like, you can click on the link and see where different players have gone as the season has drawn closer.
After the monthly mock draft postings, I have selected a player(s) from each of the first three rounds of your September mock to talk about.

First Round: Minnesota Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson
For at least the past month, Maurice Jones-Drew has been drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in many PPR leagues. This is manly due to the fact that Adrian Peterson has only averaged 20 receptions in his first two seasons as a pro.
Peterson came out a month ago and told the media he had been working on his receiving skills and wanted to become a more complete player. This news got some play in PPR circles, but, to be honest, this is the same talk we heard from Peterson a year ago, and he only had 21 receptions in '08.
This year, however, I believe Peterson's numbers could move up to around 40, as Brett Favre should check down to his runners often this season. We saw this on Monday Night, when Favre frequently checked down to the running back and had good success with it.
Many people believed that Favre could not change his wild style of play, but he has doubters wrong in his first extended action. Look for Favre to play a more conservative style of play, as that is really all this team needs to win 12 ball games (regular season) in 2009.
Second Round: New England Quarterback Tom Brady
Last week I thought Tom Brady was phenomenal in the first quarter of the game against the Washington Redskins. The way Brady and Randy Moss just kept hooking up during each drive showed us all how good these guys are together.
Unfortunately for Brady, he hurt his shoulder when Albert Haynesworth flopped on him and crushed him into the ground. The Patriots are always vague when handing out injury information, but I would suspect their star quarterback is OK.
Don't be scared if you see his name on the injury report Week One, as I'm sure New England would love to have the Bills believing this guy can't throw.
Third Round: Jason Witten or Antonio Gates
Jason Witten was drafted with the second-to-last pick in third round, and, while I do believe he will have a good year, I would not take him over Antonio Gates. The main reason for this is because Gates always seems to be around 10 touchdowns or more every season—even last year, when he started the year slowly, due to injury.
Witten, on the other hand, should have a stronger touchdown total than in years past for the simple fact that someone has to pick up the production left behind by Terrell Owens. The question is just how many touchdowns will Witten actually have?
Last season Witten only had four touchdowns, and he's never had more than seven in any given season for his career. Until he proves he can score at the pace of Gates, I just don't see why this guy should be ranked or drafted ahead of the Chargers' stud tight end.
