Manchester United Transfer News: Latest David de Gea, Robin van Persie Rumours
Real Madrid have reportedly turned to agent Jorge Mendes to facilitate a transfer for Manchester United's David de Gea, according to the Daily Mirror's Simon Mullock.
The Spanish giants apparently want to make sure De Gea's move is swift and painless but have no intention of paying the £30 million asking fee, as the Spaniard's contract will run out at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe shared another story from the Daily Mirror, where it is suggested Real would be willing to offer Keylor Navas and cash for De Gea's services, and he believes the Red Devils should take it:

De Gea's transfer saga is a difficult one to gauge heading into the summer. The Spain international is one of the world's best young goalkeepers, and should he push for a move away from Old Trafford, fans would undoubtedly expect a significant transfer fee in return.
But with just one more year left on his deal, the Red Devils have no leverage whatsoever. If De Gea wants to leave, he will, and any potential suitor won't break the bank for him.
Bleacher Report's Alex Dimond thinks it's clear it will be difficult for the club to keep their star stopper:
The news Real are now involving Mendes in the deal for the 24-year-old is yet another sign a move could be imminent. United will find out soon enough whether they can persuade De Gea to stay, but if they can't, they'll want to conclude their business early in the summer window and find a replacement in a timely fashion.
Football writer Graham Ruthven sees Victor Valdes as a potential replacement but certainly not one of De Gea's quality:
Navas could be a solid option, as well, although fans will be sceptical after the Costa Rican had a good, not great season, with Real. Navas was consistently excellent for Levante and impressed during the 2014 World Cup, but he's not an experienced big-club stopper, unlike De Gea or Valdes.
Still, United could do far worse than a deal involving Navas and a sum around £20 million. De Gea's value will only shrink as time passes and his contract runs ever shorter, and the quicker all parties involved make up their minds, the better.
All of this is contingent on Louis van Gaal failing to convince De Gea he should commit his future to United, however. While it seems likely the star goalkeeper will leave, stranger things have happened.
Michael Laudrup Wants Robin van Persie in Qatar
The future of striker Robin van Persie is as unclear as that of De Gea, and according to the Daily Mail's Simon Jones, Michael Laudrup wants to launch an offer for the Dutch international to join his new club, Lekhwiya.
Van Persie has suffered through a disappointing campaign, scoring just 10 goals across all competitions, via WhoScored.com. The 31-year-old showed his age in 2014-15, and via Sky Sports Football, there are strong rumours he fears for his future:
The veteran was a favourite of Van Gaal during the 2014 World Cup and was given ample opportunity to prove himself this season. If he wants to stay with the club for the duration of his contract, his wish will likely be fulfilled.
Playing time might become an issue, however, as the Red Devils will certainly target the position during the summer. Radamel Falcao's loan deal will not be made permanent, per Mark Ogden of the Telegraph, and youngster James Wilson, 19, is too raw to lead the club's attack.
New, big-money signings are expected, and those could push Van Persie to the far end of the bench. The veteran may be unwilling to spend the next few years cashing in but not playing, and a club like Lekhwiya may be able to give in to his wage demands and hand him a spot in the regular starting XI.
Plenty of star players have preceded Van Persie in making big-money moves to the United States or the Middle East to end their career, but Van Persie is only 31. He still presents far too much value to good clubs on the European continent, and via Football Italia, several Serie A clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation:
The Dutchman may leave Old Trafford during the summer, but it's hard to imagine him moving to Qatar at this stage of his career. It's more likely he'll try his luck in a different league and see whether he still has top-level football left in him.
If he does, he could still make a big impact on the European scene. And if he doesn't, he can always complete a move to the MLS or Qatar next season.
