Liverpool Transfer News: Arturo Vidal Rumours Denied, Latest on Godfred Donsah
Juventus claim reported Liverpool target Arturo Vidal will not be for sale during the summer, as reported by football journalist Pete O'Rourke. That at least momentarily puts an end to persistent rumours linking the Chile international with a transfer move away from Serie A:
La Gazetta dello Sport (h/t Colin Harvey of the Daily Star) previously claimed the Bianconeri had told Liverpool the midfielder would be available for the right price, while Calciomercatoweb (h/t Rhys Turrell of the Daily Star) reported Arsenal had agreed to a transfer worth £25 million.

At the time, the news appeared odd at best. Vidal overcame a knee injury and poor form at the start of the 2014-15 season and put together yet another fine campaign for Juventus, who have already won the Italian double and will have a chance to complete the treble when they face Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final.
Vidal himself recently spoke about life in Turin, telling 24 Horas (h/t Football Italia) he wouldn't mind spending the rest of his career with the Old Lady:
As explained by Sport Witness, Calciomercatoweb shouldn't be mistaken for Calciomercato.com, which is one of Italy's most respected transfer sources. Vidal will undoubtedly be a popular name on the transfer market, but it's highly unlikely he'll actually commit to a new club anytime soon.
According to Alex Dimond of Bleacher Report, the Reds could certainly use another central midfielder following the departure of Steven Gerrard and the potential loss of Lucas Leiva:
There's no denying Vidal would be a dream signing for Liverpool to replace Gerrard. The Chilean is one of the world's best box-to-box midfielders, capable of making his presence felt on the defensive end and contributing to the attack as well.
Contrary to popular belief, Vidal doesn't have any major injury concerns, either. The midfielder had surgery on his knee during the summer and needed some time to get back to form, but he's been as good as injury-free since returning to the pitch and didn't have any major issues in the years prior, via Transfermarkt.co.uk.
A summer move seems unlikely, however. Juventus have no need to sell the star midfielder thanks to the added income from the Champions League, and as shared by Gianlucadimarzio.com's David Amoyal, the uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba all but rules out an imminent sale of his midfield partner:
Juventus are nearing the end of a wildly successful season, and it's hard to see any sort of mass exodus after such a campaign. Unless Vidal presses club officials into a sale, Juventus won't budge. And judging from Vidal's latest comments, he has no intention of leaving Turin, either.
Should the Chilean leave, he could have his choice of top club around the continent. Without Champions League football to offer in 2015, the Reds are an unlikely destination.
Liverpool Express Interest in Godfred Donsah
More news from Serie A, where the agent of 18-year-old Godfred Donsah told Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Goal's Tom Maston) Liverpool are among a host of clubs expressing an interest in his client:
"Arsenal, City and Liverpool have expressed an interest, but again nothing official.
"
I also read the news about Juventus but I must say that I have not talked to Cagliari and Juventus.
At present, however, say that there has been no official contact.
The midfielder is widely regarded as one of the top young talents in Italy, and with current club Cagliari set to be relegated to Serie B, Donsah will almost surely be moving on to greener pastures.
With a departure almost certain, the agent's words have to be taken with a grain of salt. It wouldn't be the first time clubs were dragged into transfer rumours in order to ensure an interested club would increase their offer. And via FourFourTwo's Adam Digby, Donsah's camp seems to be doing everything possible to secure a move to Juventus:
Should Liverpool make a move for Donsah, the Reds would be bidding for a talented player who has some maturing to do. The Ghanaian has the versatility to play all over midfield, and even in defence, he's remarkably strong for his age and his vision is top-notch.
He struggles with passing and concentration, however, and often failed to protect Cagliari's back line in the matches that really mattered. His potential makes him well worth a look, although Donsah would benefit from one or two years out on loan before trying to make his mark at Anfield.
