Weather: According to AccuWeather.com, the weather should be all good. There's a slight chance of a passing thunderstorm, but it should not be so bad that it disrupts play completely. Temperatures will push toward 40 degrees Celsius during the day, so it's going to be hot and sticky with a chance of dew making things tricky for the bowlers later on.
Overview
Having already played each other in the eliminator last week, both teams should be mentally prepared for what lies ahead in the Indian Premier League final on Sunday. Mumbai were dominant in that game, beating Chennai by 25 runs on their home turf.
During the group stages, Mumbai lost to Chennai away from home, but they beat them on the return leg later on, so the odds are relatively even between the two sides. Overall, wins are pretty evenly split, too. Mumbai have won 11 and Chennai 10 in the 21 matches the two teams have played against each other.
Finals bring with them a completely different sense of occasion, though. Chennai have the chance to scoop their third title while Mumbai are after their second. The two teams have met in the final twice with Chennai winning in 2010 and Mumbai in 2013. With all this in mind, the final is set up for an intriguing end.
The biggest challenge for Chennai will be dealing with the absence of their leading run-scorer Brendon McCullum, who departed for international duty with New Zealand.
Both teams had a similar record during the group stages so separating the two sides is close to impossible. Eden Gardens has favoured the team batting second this season, so the toss might play a small role, but the nature of T20 is to prove statistics wrong.
Chennai were the pre-tournament favourites to win and a win in the final will make them the most successful team in the tournament's history so the pressure is on. If T20 is your thing, then expect plenty of fireworks in the final.
Key players
Chennai
MS Dhoni has always been the man for finals and he has had a decent season so far with 354 runs at an average of 32.18. He's only scored one half-century, though, and his strike-rate has been a modest 121.23, but when it comes to putting on show in a crunch match, Dhoni is the man.
Mumbai
Lendl Simmons has been Mumbai's most consistent player with five fifties in 12 games and 472 runs at an average of 42.90. If he can continue this form in the final, Mumbai will be in a good position to set a good total or chase down a big score.
