American Ninja Warrior Season 7 Preview
Viewers of American Ninja Warrior have come to expect a certain brand of entertainment over the years, and while that will continue to be present in season seven, the volume will also be turned up thanks to several new additions.
According to Gavin Edwards of Men's Journal, "American Ninja Warrior" executive producer Kent Weed revealed that those involved with the show have worked hard to produce different obstacles in order to keep the competitors on their toes:
"We have to keep up with the ninjas," Weed said. "The minute we create a new obstacle, the ninjas build it in their backyards and you see it pop up on YouTube. So we have to stay fresh."
James Hibberd of Entertainment Weekly wrote an article highlighting some of the obstacles that will set this season of American Ninja Warrior apart from previous ones.
With obstacles such as the Hourglass Drop, Swinging Spikes and Flying Shelf Grab making their debut, host Matt Iseman realizes just how difficult things will be for this year's participants:
Even so, as seen in this promotional video courtesy of the American Ninja Warrior Twitter account, the prospective ninjas are excited and confident in their ability to make a deep run in the tournament:
Remarkably, that includes 72-year-old Chuck Mammay of Oak Island, North Carolina. Per Lauren Rautencranz of KTRE.com, the Vietnam War veteran will take part in an upcoming military edition of American Ninja Warrior.
Mammay is looking forward to the opportunity to showcase his fitness, and he believes he is prepared to put forth a strong showing:
"It's something that I can't even tell people how excited I am. It's more than the ninja warrior now. It's part of paying tribute to the military. ... As of last year, I'm the oldest contestant by 20 years. ... But the thing is, it takes a lot of dedication. I've been doing three to six hours a day of physical activity. It's not for the faint of heart.
"
Simply taking part in the show will be a huge win for Mammay, but there are many others who have their eyes on an even greater prize.
The qualifying rounds in Venice Beach, California, San Pedro, California, Kansas City, Missouri, Orlando, Florida, Houston and Pittsburgh will determine who advances to Las Vegas for a chance at $1 million.
According to NBC.com, nobody has captured the American Ninja Warrior grand prize over the years despite several just barely missing out.
Although no competitor has completely conquered all the obstacles placed in front of them, the idea that someone eventually will is a big reason why viewers keep coming back for more.
A large contingent of incredible athletes will look to make history in the seventh season of American Ninja Warrior, and the entire country will undoubtedly be following along and rooting them on.
