
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Sentenced to Death for Boston Marathon Bombing
After being found guilty on 30 counts against him for his role in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was sentenced to death Friday in Boston's U.S. District Court.

Three people were killed and 260 were injured as a result of the bombings. Per Katharine Q. Seelye of the New York Times, 17 of the charges against the 21-year-old native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, by way of Kyrgyzstan, carried with them the possibility of the death penalty.
Eight-year-old Martin Richard, 23-year-old Lingzi Lu and 29-year-old Krystle Campbell died in the attack orchestrated by Tsarnaev and his older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, according to Ann O'Neill of CNN.com. Also, 27-year-old security officer Sean Collier was shot and killed in the aftermath of the bombings.
Tsarnaev's sentence is subject to an automatic appeal.
