Like almost every Kentucky Derby winner before him, American Pharoah is facing the inevitable question of whether he can win the Triple Crown. It hasn't been done since 1978, and with him and third-place Dortmund both trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, it'll be interesting to see what happens at the Preakness. Preakness 2015: Post Time, Post Positions and Full TV Coverage Info

Tyler DumaMay 16, 2015

Every year, the thoroughbred racing community shifts its focus to an oft-overlooked track in Baltimore, Pimlico Race Course, which is the host of the Preakness Stakes.

Last year, California Chrome had diehards, and even the most casual racing fans wrapped around his finger. The Chrome show drew a record 123,469 crowd to Pimlico last year, and this year's running (the 140th all time) should produce similar results.

This year, the next big thing in racing, American Pharoah, will look to become the second horse in as many years to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, so similar fanfare is expected.

While all that racing is going on, Infield Fest will take place on the Pimlico infield, and the event is headlined by Armin van Buuren and Childish Gambino.

Bummed you're missing out? Me too. Fortunately, there's a slew of ways to take in this year's Preakness card.

In the sections that follow, I'll lay out everything you need to know in order to experience both the Preakness and the undercard, but first, a look at the full lineup of horses for this, the 140th run of the race.

Post Time and Race Info

When: May 16, 2015

Where: Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland

First Post: 10:30 a.m. ET

Preakness Post Time: 6:18 p.m. ET

As is typical of these Triple Crown race days, we're in for a full slate of races. All-in-all, there are a total of 14 races on today's card.

The Grade 1 Preakness is the headlining race, but six other contests with $100,000-plus purses fall under the Preakness, including the Grade 2 Dixie Stakes and the Grade 3 Gallorette Handicap.

Fortunately, unlike Derby day, we only have to wait 53 minutes between the Dixie and the Preakness.

Looking to take part in this great day of racing, but don't plan on making the trip to Pimlico? The section below has you covered then, and I'll detail everything you need to know about the TV coverage schedule for this year's Preakness.

TV Coverage Info

Network: NBC Sports Network and NBC

Coverage Start Time: NBC Sports (2:30-4:30 p.m. ET), NBC (4:30-6:30 p.m. ET)

Post-Race Coverage: NBC Sports (6:30-7:00 p.m. ET)

You'll miss the first seven races of the card with this year's coverage schedule, but NBC Sports is going to cover everything from the eighth race, through the 10th race.

That run of three straight stakes races to kick off the day's coverage, and it's headlined by the Grade 3 Gallorette Handicap.

After the Gallorette, you're going to want to flip over to NBC, where they'll cover the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th races.

The first race on NBC will start at 4:04 p.m. ET, and that's the $100,000 Chick Lang Stakes. After that, we'll have the $100,000 The Very One Stakes, and then the $400,000 Grade 2 Dixie Stakes.

All of this leads into the $1,500,000 Grade 1 Preakness Stakes, and that race carries a post time of 6:18 p.m.
