History on USA's Side

To say the USA have a one-sided record against Mexico would be an understatement.

In 32 clashes with their rivals, the U.S. have won 30 times and tasted defeat only once, so it's hard to look past another win here.

The USA beat Mexico 8-0 in September.

In their last three encounters, the USA boast a combined 15-0 scoreline, including an 8-0 rout in September.

The USWNT are also in great form, having dispatched Ireland 3-0 on May 10 thanks to a brace from Abby Wambach and a Julie Johnston strike:

In March, they prepared for their World Cup campaign in style, winning their 10th Algarve Cup title.

However, both sides have drawn difficult groups in the World Cup:

Despite the tough group, U.S. coach Jill Ellis is confident her side has what it takes:

Mexico in particular will need to be on the top of their game to overcome England, France and Colombia, so it's vital they put in a performance here and avoid the humiliating scorelines they've suffered against the U.S. in recent times.

In their last outing they succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat to World Cup hosts Canada, but they'd won five of their last six games prior to the defeat.

Nevertheless, with all-time leading goalscorer Wambach in such good form, yet another U.S. win looks to be on the cards.

The 34-year-old has scored a phenomenal 178 goals in 238 games for the USWNT, and her physical presence and partnership with the always-excellent Alex Morgan have overwhelmed Mexico time and again.

Another comfortable victory is the most likely outcome, and the USA's confidence is set to be sky-high when they begin their World Cup campaign in June.
