Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Thomas Muller and Paul Pogba Rumours
Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has suggested his relationship with boss Pep Guardiola remains positive, dampening rumours he could join Manchester United.
Simon Mullock of the Daily Mirror previously indicated the Red Devils were eyeing up a move for Muller after he appeared to argue with Guardiola when being substituted during Bayern's 3-0 Champions League loss to Barcelona.
However, Muller indicates there is no problem between the two, as reported by Alberto Ortega of Marca: "A manager doesn't have to explain every change and I'm not going to ask him to. I'm emotional on the pitch and I think that's good. But I don't complain afterwards. The manager is the boss. No team can work without respecting that."

Daniel Anwar of Squawka cited Mullock's story when suggesting United boss Louis van Gaal was willing to pay up to £40 million for Muller's services last summer. The Dutchman was influential in the early stages of the German's career, bringing him into Bayern's first team when many others wouldn't have.
Muller remains key to the Bundesliga champions and recently inked a new five-year contract. Van Gaal could opt to play on his personal relationship with the player to lure him to Old Trafford—like he did with the capture of Memphis Depay—but Muller is yet to show any indication he wishes to leave.
Pirlo: Pogba Won't Return to United

Paul Pogba, who has experienced life at the English club, is destined never to return. This, according to his Juventus team-mate Andrea Pirlo, who believes Sir Alex Ferguson's failure to give the French youngster responsibility in the senior team will never be forgotten. Pirlo's comments were reported by Charlie Skillen of the MailOnline:
"He seems very happy at Juventus, I know he is focused on finishing the season with a lot of success. Whatever the future is for him I don't see it being Manchester United. He didn't feel he was treated well there. I know that was under Sir Alex Ferguson and now there is a new coach, but I do not seeing him returning to a club where he was not treated well.
"
While an Old Trafford return may not be possible, reports continue to suggest Manchester City are upping the ante to sign Pogba. Sky Sports Italia (via Sky Sports), reports City have "held talks" with the player.
Jamie Jackson of the Guardian even suggests "Yaya Toure [is] being offered as a makeweight in a deal for the Frenchman, who is valued at €100m (£71.5m) by the Italian champions."
B/R UK's Rob Pollard recently discussed why this deal makes perfect sense:
At 22 years old, Pogba is obviously a player who would interest many European giants. His commanding style and physical dominance is already palpable, but he's likely to keep on improving. United fans know Ferguson let a potential world-class star slip through the net, but the pain would be amplified if local rivals City secured his future.
Van Gaal acted quickly to sign Depay, but he will no doubt take a more measured approach throughout the summer. Improvements are needed throughout the squad and, most prominently, in the midfield position Pogba could have filled.
