NBA Draft Order 2015: Fresh Mock Draft Before Lottery Results

A couple of historically proud franchises in the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers are near the top of the lottery. Now those big-market organizations are in line to land a necessary blue-chip player and a hopeful cornerstone to build around.
Just about any position could serve as a satisfied need for both squads. The triangle offense Derek Fisher once ran as a Laker is what he's trying to install as head coach of the Knicks now, so either a top-flight guard prospect or a formidable big man to lean on would help immensely.
Duke star Jahlil Okafor stands out as a clear-cut fit for the Big Apple. Okafor won a national championship and seems to only be scratching the surface of his potential.
Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com observed how great Okafor looked well before the draft, when he could've been slacking off in terms of conditioning:
If New York can get the proper ball movement and execution clicking, the combination of Okafor's savvy in the post and the isolation prowess of Carmelo Anthony would galvanize the Knicks. It might still be one more season before the Knicks can expect a true turnaround, but Okafor figures to be a huge step in the right direction.
As for Los Angeles, Jordan Clarkson could be a real bargain running the point in the coming years. Adding a swingman would be a most suitable option, and another one-year Blue Devil wonder in Justise Winslow should come off the board when the Lakers choose.
Winslow put on a magnificent display at both ends of the court in the NCAA tournament. A versatile lockdown defender who has outside shooting ability and a knack for sparking fast breaks and finishing strong at the rim, there is little not to like about Winslow's game.
"From everything we have found out, Justise is projected to be a high lottery pick and we believe that to be true," said Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski when Winslow announced he'd go pro, per USA Today Sports. "This is a great time to take advantage of this opportunity. We're behind him all the way and love him and his family."
It's the kind of relentless motor Winslow has that will help Lakers legend Kobe Bryant as his career winds down. The return of 2014 first-round draft pick Julius Randle from injury will make L.A. that much better in the frontcourt.
D'Angelo Russell and Emmanuel Mudiay comprise the guard duo that command the most attention as the top perimeter players, and the pair of Kristaps Porzingis and Mario Hezonja headline the international talent. The dilemma teams at the top will have to face when choosing between Okafor and Kentucky's Karl-Anthony Towns will be a major plot point to watch for.
But if the Knicks and Lakers go in for both Blue Devils in Okafor and Winslow, respectively, hope can be had for sooner improvement based on how well they'd fit with those particular squads.
