Quite a Few People Wanted to Vote Leo Messi at the 2015 General Election

Lionel Messi's performance was clearly on lots of football fans' minds the morning after the Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich game, and with a general election taking place in Britain on Thursday, that overlapped a little.

One image even showed an elaborate bit of work to create space for Messi of "The Tekkers Party," complete with Barcelona crest, so he could place his vote there.

It's a hoax, however—look closer and you'll see the postcodes don't tally, and the candidates hail from Anytown.

Spoiler alert, for those thinking of doing it for real: It won't count, and there's no scenario—even in the likely event of a hung parliament—in which the Argentinian will wake up on Friday morning as your prime minister. So don't keep on trying if you want your vote to count in the elections.
